Currently, the Spring event “The Revelry” is happening in Destiny 2. A feature of this event is particularly annoying to many Crucible lovers. What is going on?
This is the feature: What some fans feared even before the event has now come true. The so-called Revelry Elixir of the ongoing Spring event “The Revelry” is causing unrest in PvP.
Masses of fans are demanding that this item at least be removed from the competitive playlist. Especially there, it drives many Guardians crazy. What is the deal with it?
What does this elixir do? Essentially, this elixir embodies a temporary buff – with three different enhancement effects. Depending on the choice, the buff reduces the cooldowns of your Guardian:
- grenades
- melee
- or class ability

You have to choose one of these effects, only one can be active at a time. The event armor and the themed armor from the Eververse enhance the buff, the more set pieces you have equipped.

What is the problem with this elixir? The respective buff is active during the event in all activities of Destiny 2 – also in the Crucible. The only exception is private matches.
In PvP, one is significantly more dangerous with the buff and its increasing power than “normal” Guardians, some of whom are not even interested in the event. However, they feel the effects quite clearly and are annoyed.

What is particularly criticized is the use of the elixir in the competitive playlist of the Crucible. In numerous Reddit posts with many upvotes, PvP enthusiasts express their frustration. Because with the elixir, almost endless spam of grenades and abilities is now possible.
However, for most players, it is precisely in the competitive area that it is about measuring one’s skills in an environment with others, where gunplay is in the foreground and abilities are only used occasionally and strategically.
But that is not really the case right now. Currently, the Crucible resembles a large cauldron mode, where Guardians can use abilities every few seconds, thus pushing any strategy and gunplay completely to the background. Therefore, many are demanding the abolition of the elixir – at least in competitive PvP.

There are also players who quite enjoy the chaos that the elixir and event armors bring. But many fans agree that a separate event playlist for PvP or a limitation to quickplay would have been the better solution. Instead, the entire Crucible is now thrown into chaos for three weeks and robs many of their enjoyment of PvP during this time.
Bungie has not responded to this feedback so far and has not made any statements. It remains exciting to see whether there will be any changes to the elixir or its effects in certain modes.
By the way, as part of the Revelry, you can get the Arbalest – the second new weapon exotic of Season 6. But what can the weapon actually do?

What do you think about this issue? Would you also wish for another implementation? Or can you not understand the frustration about the elixir?
