On which day is the Forsaken release? The new expansion will be released on September 4, 2018, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. That is a Tuesday. Then the Guardian’s journey will continue with new adventures, new challenges, and new loot.
What time does it start? Bungie plans for Destiny 2 Forsaken to be available for Guardians on all platforms at 7 PM on the release day – coinciding with the Weekly Reset.
However, maintenance work will take place beforehand – the start time may shift slightly forward or backward.
When will the servers be down before Forsaken?
Before the Forsaken launch, Bungie will take the servers offline for several hours. Maintenance will be carried out and Update 2.0.0.1 will be applied. When the servers come back online and you have installed the update, you can embark on Year 2 of Destiny 2.
Here are the maintenance times on September 4:
- At 4 PM you will no longer be able to log in to Destiny 2. As soon as you leave an activity, you will be returned to the main menu.
- At 4:30 PM the servers will be shut down. Anyone still in Destiny 2 at this point will be kicked out. The servers will be offline on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
- By 7 PM the maintenance work is expected to be completed, according to Bungie. Forsaken will then be available on all platforms.
What about the Day One patch for Forsaken? Is there a preload?
Update 2.0.0.1 is the Day One patch necessary to play Forsaken.
When does the preload / download of Update 2.0.0.1 start? On September 4 at 4 PM – as soon as the maintenance begins. The update will be available for all platforms and regions simultaneously.
