We are almost at halftime in the ongoing season of the Splicer. What highlights does Season 14 of Destiny 2 still have in store until August 24? We take a look at the upcoming content.
What’s going on in Destiny 2 right now? In Destiny 2, Season 14, the Season of the Splicer, is currently underway, and we are slowly reaching the midpoint of the season. Most points on the roadmap have already been cleared, but there are still some highlights waiting for the Guardians.
Therefore, we take a closer look at the content that awaits you until August 24, when Season 14 is expected to end.
What does the Season of the Splicer still have to offer?
A lot has already happened in Season 14. The cult raid “Glass Chamber” is back, the seasonal story is told in a really exciting way this time and is intensifying, there is a new weekly mission with excursions into the Vex network – a gigantic labyrinth. The Trials are running smoothly, and the Guardians have already been able to let loose in the Iron Banner. But what else is to come?

Corrupted Expunge Missions
By now we have reached the first corrupted version of the weekly Expunge missions, where the 3 previous variants are now modified by the Taken infection. In the coming weeks, the 2 other missions with Taken will launch. Here, you will also receive top loot through corrupted keycodes.
What happens after these 6 Expunge missions is currently unknown. However, there are rumors about a possible 7th Expunge mission, which is said to be separate from the other 6 and may involve a boss fight against the alleged seasonal main antagonist Quira. This Vex spirit in the form of a Hydra was once corrupted by Oryx and “gifted” to Savathûn.
New Story – Is a Civil War Coming?
It is becoming increasingly clear that something significant is brewing in the conflict between Lakshmi, the Vanguard, and the Fallen refugees in the Last City of humanity. The Witch Queen Savathûn, the main enemy from the next major expansion, is apparently already present in the city. It is expected that there will be explosive confrontations soon within the framework of the seasonal story. There are now plenty of explosive conflict hotspots.
Some believe that the Fallen are not there by chance in the old boss room from the “Wrath of the Machine” raid, of which the refugee camp is only a small part. It is speculated that there may be battles against hostile Fallen from outside the city or against the Vex there. Some even consider the possibility of a civil war in the Last City if Lakshmi manages to turn the citizens against the alien refugees through propaganda and intrigue.
Master Mode for the Glass Chamber
This is a Hard Mode for the latest raid of Destiny 2 that is supposed to offer a higher challenge but also better rewards. It starts on July 6, but nothing else is known about it – so far, it is unknown how the mechanics or power level requirements will change.
However, it is assumed that the Timelost versions of the raid weapons can finally be acquired here. These special versions have been in the game’s data for some time, but have not yet been found in-game anywhere.
Iron Banner
Until August 24, 2 Iron Banner tournaments are still waiting for the Guardians. You thus have plenty of time to complete the seasonal Iron Banner quest as well as to earn the new Iron Banner weapons from Season 14, if you haven’t done so already. You can also earn additional top loot through the Iron Banner bounties as part of the one-week PvP event.
Solstice of Heroes
Also starting on July 6 is the traditional annual summer event “Solstice of Heroes”. With this celebration, Destiny 2 closes out its current year, allowing players to look back and celebrate their achievements and earn stylish event armor before the release of the next major expansion. Epilogue
An epilogue is scheduled for August 10 – most likely for the seasonal story. The interesting part: This is 2 weeks before Season 14 is actually set to end. Whether this will take place on that one day or will extend over several days or even weeks remains unknown. So far, it is only assumed that this will be the time when the Guardians will finally free the Last City from the Vex simulation.
Whether a major season finale will follow remains to be seen. On one hand, it raises hopes: the story in this season has been really well and excitingly told so far.
What diminishes these hopes, however, is that absolutely nothing has happened regarding the closing ceremony for the Guardian Games listed on the roadmap. Here, one will have to be surprised – hopefully positively.
Does Season 14 still have secrets?
If we look at previous seasons, it cannot be ruled out that we could still get another new weapon exotic this season – even if perhaps not on such a grand scale as with the Omen mission for Falcon Moon or the Harbingers mission for Tale of a Dead.
Moreover, there were the mysterious Oracles in Lost Sectors, which were quickly patched out and have not been seen since. It is assumed that they were meant to appear later in the season and were activated prematurely.
And recently, some players are also speculating whether the 45 boxes that Bungie sent along with a hidden message to selected content creators might lead to a new community puzzle (or similar) or if it was purely a PR stunt. So, there could indeed still be something happening, but there is currently no official information on this.
