With the launch of the Forsaken expansion and the start of Season 4, the faction fights in Destiny 2 took a forced break and are being reworked since then. Data miners have now found initial hints about possible changes.
The faction rallies have been on hold since the beginning of Season 4 – even though they were already revised for Season 3. However, there was a lot of criticism from Guardians regarding the new format. Bungie wanted to use this feedback to fundamentally improve the event.

What could change in the faction rally
Here is what is officially known about the group fights so far: Since the break, the faction fights have been quiet. According to Bungie, more information was to come after the launch of Forsaken. But so far, no one knows when they will return or what the changes might look like. The studio is silent on this.
Here is what the changes might look like: At least regarding potential changes to the event, there is now some movement in the game. A data miner, who has previously discovered details about the curse cycle of the dreaming city, has stumbled upon some audio files that might reveal more about the future of the faction rally.
This is what is in the data:
- There should now be more than just plundering Lost Sectors and stacking fame
- Factions should send Guardians on jobs to collect or trade materials
- What the jobs will look like is still unclear
- The recordings suggest that it will be possible for players to craft faction weapons and armor
- Story: Asher Mir, the NPC vendor on Io, has apparently allied himself with the Dead Orbit and is not particularly fond of Earth
- Whether other known NPCs will ally with the other two factions is still unclear
Will this happen? All this information from the leak is unconfirmed and should be viewed with caution. Much could still change and turn out completely differently. However, if these details prove true, Bungie could be taking a step in the right direction.
Because the crafting aspect alone could keep numerous fans engaged for a long time, if it really is possible to create faction gear yourself. Especially if the items come with random rolls. It also looks like the story around the factions might be expanded a bit – another feature that many fans have been wishing for a long time.
