Anyone who plays Destiny 2 should also know the most important component of the game: the Orbs of Power. Along with the basic question of what Orbs of Power are, the way to generate Orbs of Power has also changed with the new expansion, The Witch Queen. We will tell you what exactly has changed and how to generate Orbs of Power in Destiny 2 in 2022.
What are Orbs of Power? In Destiny 2, Orbs of Power are essential for quickly returning Guardians their best ability, the Super. Orbs of Power can not only be generated, but also picked up and grant a small amount of ability energy per orb or provide other benefits.
- The more Orbs you and other players can generate, the better you are.
- Incredible synergies can be unleashed through the use of Light mods with the Orbs.
Knowing how to generate Orbs of Power is important, as they help to be more efficient and powerful. Especially when playing team endgame PvE content, they are indispensable.
Before the latest expansion Witch Queen, Guardians generated Orbs of Power in a way that required little thought:
- Primarily, Orbs popped out when activating their Super ability and from kills.
- Additionally, using masterwork weapons, which were fully leveled to 10, could generate Orbs through multikills.
- Exotic weapons that have a catalyst could also generate Orbs.
What has changed now? With the launch of Witch Queen in February 2022 and Season 16, the system has changed in part. Anyone wanting to continue generating Orbs of Power effectively must now use an armor mod on their helmet. Masterwork weapons no longer play a role in orb generation.
The change from Bungie was not well received in the community, as all masterwork weapons became less important and the mods led to a more complicated way of creating builds.
How do I create Orbs of Power?
Since February 2022, Guardians in Destiny 2 have exactly two ways to create Orbs of Power. The easiest is still the use of their Super ability. This at least guarantees a few Orbs of Power. However, the amount is quite limited, so this alone will not be enough to truly unlock the full potential.
If you don’t want to wait forever for your Super to return, you will depend on using the new “Siphon mods” in your armor, specifically in your helmet, and on quick kills with weapons.
There are several mods so that they can fit into any build and be used.

|---|---|---|---|---|

![]() | Kinetic Siphon | Fast kinetic weapon kills generate an Orb of Power. (Multikills) | 3 energy | Unlocked by default |
![]() | Arc Siphon | Fast kills with arc weapons generate an Orb of Power. (Multikills) | 3 Arc energy | Unlocked by default |
![]() | Solar Siphon | Fast kills with solar weapons generate an Orb of Power. (Multikills) | 3 Solar energy | Unlocked by default |
![]() | Void Siphon | Fast kills with void weapons generate an Orb of Power. (Multikills) | 3 Stasis energy | Unlocked by default |
![]() | Stasis | Fast kills with stasis weapons generate an Orb of Power. (Multikills) | 3 Void energy | Unlocked by default |
| Power Preservation | Your super kills generate additional Orbs of Power for allies. | 3 Stasis energy | Randomly from Legendary Engrams or from rank-up packages |
How to unlock the new Siphon mods?
No unlocking of these Siphon mods for generating Orbs of Power is necessary. Bungie has automatically made them available to players in the collection so that everyone can use them immediately.
However, there is one exception: The Stasis mod “Power Preservation”, which grants additional Orbs of Power on super kills, is not automatically unlocked. You can only obtain this mod randomly from Legendary Engrams or from rank-up packages.
How to equip the Siphon mods
In order to use the Siphon mods for generating Orbs of Power, you need a free armor slot on your helmet, which must have the appropriate element and, of course, enough free energy to be able to use the mod.
Have you already been aware of this change and taken it into account? Or have you already wondered why some players in Destiny 2 suddenly generate only a few of the important Orbs of Power? Let us know in the comments if you can still incorporate these important mods into your builds or if all slots are already full.
