Today, on 29th October, the Weekly Reset is taking place in Destiny 2. For the Guardians, this means: There are new weekly activities, Nightfall Strikes, and a fresh Flashpoint. The week also begins with update 2.6.1 and new content like the Halloween event and a new dungeon.
Due to the change to winter time, the Weekly Reset will now always take place at 6 PM instead of 7 PM.
What’s happening in Destiny 2 right now? Today, Destiny Week starts with update 2.6.1, which requires maintenance. This should be completed by 7 PM, so that the Guardians can dive right into the new content.
After you log in, you can expect a new cutscene that apparently continues the story or at least teases something new. However, we don’t want to spoil too much. You can read more about the mysterious scenes in upcoming articles.
If you’re in the game, you should check in with Eris on the Moon. After that, you can dive into the new content, which includes:
- a new dungeon,
- the Halloween event “Festival of the Lost”
- and the quest for the new exotic machine gun Xenophage.
But what else is there to do in Destiny 2?
The key information about the weekly activities
These Nightfalls are available: In the regular Nightfall (Power level 820), you can choose from these strikes:
- The Twisted Column
- Savathun’s Song
- Guardians of Nothing
These difficulties have Nightfall: The Ordeal to offer:
- Master (recommended Power Level 750, with matchmaking)
- Hero (recommended Power Level 920, with matchmaking)
- Legend (recommended Power Level 950)
- Grandmaster (recommended Power Level 980)
In the Ordeal you can only determine the difficulty. The strike this week is “A Garden World”.
Strikes and story missions: In the Vanguard Strikes, these modifiers are active:
- Void Singe
- Iron
- Heavyweight
This week, the Singe modifier does not change at all. The usual modifiers, however, rotate daily.
Crucible: You can choose from these modes and playlists in PvP this week:
- Private Match
- Rumble (Core Playlist)
- Momentum Control (Rotation Playlist)
- Labs: Elimination (Core Playlist)
- Showdown (Rotation Playlist)
- Survival (Core Playlist)
- Survival: Freelance (Core Playlist)

Countdown: These modifiers are active:

Escalation Protocol: In Escalation Protocol on Mars, you can find this weapon at the final boss:
- the legendary sniper rifle IKELOS_SSG_v1.0.1
Flashpoint: This week you can find the Flashpoint on Nessus.
Petra Venj can currently be found in the Rheasilvia area of the Dreaming City (3rd Curse Week). Additionally, you have to master the 1st Ascendant Challenge.

These are the tiers for Powerful Gear: Powerful loot is now divided into multiple tiers that provide you with different power boosts:
- Tier 1 (up to +3 above the current power level)
- Tier 2 (up to +4 above the current power level)
- Tier 3 (up to +5 above the current power level)
- pinnacle gear (+5 or more above the power level. The only gear that goes above 950 and up to a maximum of 960)
- Additional tiers obtained through the seasonal artifact do not count towards the average power level and thus towards drop calculations
