In October, Destiny 2 traditionally celebrates Halloween. As of tonight, all interested players are invited to put on one of the spooky masks and give others the fright of their lives. MeinMMO also informs you about what Bungie has planned for this week.
This week: As every year, Bungie hosts its traditional Halloween event. It starts tonight after the Weekly Reset at 7 PM and will be in the game for 3 weeks.
By the way, it doesn’t matter in Destiny 2 whether you’ve purchased a DLC or a Season for events. All players can participate in the event with the free-to-play version Destiny 2: New Light. So feel free to join in and transform your Guardian into a Mecha or grab the new event weapon.
What activity awaits the Guardians at the Halloween event? Last year, Bungie sent the Guardians into Haunted instead of Lost Sectors. These were scary adorned, and the goal was to hunt headless beings that appeared as Cabal Knights with pumpkin heads.
This won’t change in 2022, only this year you’ll fight in Power Ranger mode as “Star-Sheriffs” using your new Mech armor. The Haunted Sectors have merely spread to a new location in the EDZ. Additionally, there’s the Sniper Rifle “Horror-Tech” to earn.
This week, Guardians can also crown their hard-earned King’s Fall Raid title by completing the final challenge and then officially call themselves “Kingslayer”.

Vanguard: Nightfall – The Fire Test
The Nightfall: The Fire Test is the strike:
- Fallen S.A.B.E.R., in the Cosmodrome
- This week, you must again prevent the devils from gaining control of Rasputin’s war satellites. If that happens, artillery from the Golden Age would be directed at the Tower and the Last City within minutes.
This is the Nightfall weapon of the week: As a reward for your run, you’ll always receive a special Nightfall weapon. In Season 18, Bungie has some good, old options to offer.
Playlist Strikes have the following modifiers this week:
- Solar Flare
- Stasis Burn
- Grounded
- The Flare modifier accompanies you all week, while the others change daily.
Endgame: Raid Challenges and Dungeon Rotation
This is happening in the Raid “Kingsfall”:
The very last challenge is at hand. Whoever completes this and the remaining triumphs can officially call themselves “Kingslayer” (in English “Kingslayer”). But before that happens, every player must complete the last challenge task called “Hands Off” at the final boss Oryx in the raid.
- The “Hands Off” challenge requires Guardians to think carefully about which Ogre and Knight they want to kill. Because no one on your team can defeat the same Light Eater Ogre and Light Eater Knight more than once. This applies to the entire fight, across all damage phases until the final showdown with the raid boss.
Expect the following raid requirements and challenges:
- In Normal mode, completing a challenge grants you double loot.
- The requirement for each encounter for Grandmasters is at power level 1600 with champions.
- You can only obtain status-specific armor and master weapons from the Grandmaster raid.
- You can also earn the new raid-exclusive exotic cosmetics in the Oryx style in Grandmaster.
Additional top rewards from the endgame can be obtained:
- On the Moon in the Legacy raid “Glass Chamber”.
- In the Dreaming City in the dungeon “The Broken Throne”.
Weekly Activities
In Season 18, Guardians can currently play various seasonal activities. Players were turned into pirates with their own crew and collected cryptic quatrains.
- Ketch Crash: Dive into ship-to-ship battles in this new 6-player activity to prevent Eramis and her pirate crew from plunging the galaxy into chaos. Here, you can earn top loot once a week on Grandmaster.
- Expedition: Assemble treasure maps, look for treasures, and return to your ship while fending off enemy pirate crews.
- Pirate Hideouts: Fight through weekly missions and claim powerful relics hidden in the hideouts of the pirate lords.
Officially, the seasonal quest is now completed. So anyone who played the Season recently has no new story step to accomplish this week. But we know that Mithrax and Eido are investigating the mysterious artifacts of Nezarek. So no one knows what they will discover and especially what else Bungie has planned in Season 18.
Additionally, the content of the current DLC “The Witch Queen” is still active and can be played. For example, in the weekly repeatable campaign mission. There, you can also earn top loot to reach the current max power level of 1580.
Savathun’s Throne World – Weekly Campaign Mission
- “The Last Chance”
- This week you can play the seventh campaign mission of the Witch Queen as a repeatable story mission. It is about following the trusted source of Eris, who informs you about an artifact in the Throne World that might hold the answer to how Savathun gained the Light.

- Elimination
- Glory Survival
- Glory Survival: Freelance
- Conflict
- Trials of Osiris (Starts October 21)
This week you get a bonus:
- Commander Zavala shows generosity and grants some bonus rep ranks for participating in his Vanguard activities. Use it to secure the ornament of the seasonal ritual weapon.
Ascendant Challenge – Dreaming City
- Petra Venj can now be found in the Dreaming City right at the spawn point – as always during the 2nd Curse week. Simultaneously, the 6th Ascendant Challenge is active.
Sources for top loot in Season 18 of Destiny 2
So that you know where to effectively grab your top loot, we provide a quick overview of activities every week.
This is the new max level: In the new Season of Plunder, the maximum power level of your gear is 1,580. This means the power level at the start of the new Season 18 has increased by +10 compared to the previous Season 17. All players receive a base power level of 1,350.
This top loot brings your power level up to 1,580:
- Top Legacy Raid “Kingsfall” (+2)
- Top Dungeon “Duality” (+2)
- Raid rotation this week: “The Glass Chamber” (+2)
- Legacy dungeon rotation “The Broken Throne” (+2)

This is how you get free loot: For all new and returning Guardians who want to join in the future or after a break, Bungie has prepared the “Gift of the Thunder Gods” in Season 18.
You can pick up this loot chest for free at the H.E.L.M. after completing the “New Light” campaign. It will boost you to a power level of up to 1540 or more – with Arc gear and weapons, as well as two Exotics and ten Legendary items. You can also claim the rewards for all your characters once.
Shiny highlights in the Eververse
Bungie has not released much information about the cosmetics for this week. However, you can certainly expect many Halloween-themed items in the Eververse Shop, such as this winged teleport effect for 450 Shiny Dust.
Besides that, only these items are known, so you’ll have to expect surprises from many of the spooky specials:
- Players can expect a recycled Savathun mask with a trash can on its head and three green button eyes.
- There will be a blue and glittering star horse mask, reminiscent of Xur’s impossible horse friend from the “30 Years of Bungie” DLC.
- A quirky toast bread helmet.
- The Fynch mask, a paper design of the new Throne World vendor.
- Players can become the weapon with the most bugs in the game in 2022 by donning the new Telesto mask.
