Today, on January 15th, is the Weekly Reset for Destiny 2. Numerous activities such as the Nightfall strikes or the Flashpoint are rotating. Additionally, the first Iron Banner of 2019 is now live. What else is new for Guardians this week?
With the weekly reset, Lord Saladin graces the Tower with his presence. The first Iron Banner of the year 2019 has started. For a week, players now have the opportunity to compete with other Guardians in the Crucible under the watchful eyes of the Iron Lords, while also earning up to 7 additional Powerful rewards.
In competitive PvP, matchmaking changes go live with the Weekly Reset. As a result, Guardians should find opponents who match their Glory rank more often. Additionally, the Cursed of the Haunted is now in its first cycle week in the Dreaming City and is therefore the weakest. To find out what else the new week has in store for Guardians, you can check here:
Nightfall Strikes from January 15 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC
This week, you can choose from the following three Nightfall strikes:
- The Terminus of Insight
- Sea of Shadows
- Exodus Crash
For the Nightfall, the recommended Power Level is 540. If you want to activate different modifiers and customize your Nightfall experience, you can do so using the challenge card. Note that during the Nightfall strike, your equipment will be locked and cannot be changed.

This is how you earn Powerful loot:
- Complete a Nightfall strike
- Complete the Nightfall with at least 100,000 points
Strikes and Story Missions
When completing daily heroic story missions, the following modifications are active:
- Arc Burn
- Glass: Health and shields are halved, but regeneration is twice as fast
- Grenadier: Grenade abilities deal more damage and recharge much faster
In the Vanguard Strikes, the modifiers are identical. The burn element remains active throughout the week. The other two parameters change daily.
This is how you earn Powerful loot:
- Complete 3 heroic story missions
- Complete 3 heroic strikes with a focus of the same light element as a member of your fireteam
Crucible activities and Gambit
The Crucible offers the following modes this week:
- Quickplay
- Competitive
- Rumble
- Iron Banner
- Private Match
Additionally, there are double valor points.
This is how you earn Powerful loot:
- Complete 5 Crucible Matches
- Complete 3 Gambit Matches
Escalation Protocol
In the Escalation Protocol, you can potentially grab the following weapon until the next reset:
- the legendary IKELOS_MP_v1.0.1 submachine gun
Flashpoint, Petra, Bounties
The Flashpoint is located on Titan. There, you will also find a heroic adventure. If you master it, powerful loot awaits.
If you complete 20 random bounties with Ikora Rey, you will be rewarded with a Powerful item.
For 5,000 Clan XP with Hawthorne, you will also receive powerful loot. Members of a clan can secure two additional powerful rewards by successfully completing the weekly raid challenges “Stay Outside” and “All for One, One for All”.
The Wanderer has the weekly bounty “In the Mill” available. If you accomplish this challenge, there is a Powerful gear piece.
Lord Saladin has 7 bounties for you. Each of them drops Powerful loot for you.
With Ada-1, you can acquire these powerful weapon patterns:
- Pulse Rifle
- Sword
- Machine Gun
Petra Venj is located at the Pavilion in the “The Shore” area. In the context of a mission, you can score a Powerful reward. For the Ascendant challenge and for completing 8 daily bounties, there is also one additional Powerful item. Currently, the 2nd Ascendant challenge is active.
At Spider, you can pick up the large weekly bounty “Flood Summoner“. If successful, you will be rewarded with a Powerful gear piece.
This is the current loadout for the Prestige Raid activities:
- a kinetic Hand Cannon
- a Sniper Rifle in the energy slot
- any Power weapon
- The modifier is Prism
You can complete the Raid Challenge in the Royal Baths.
In the Eververse, you can find among other things:
- an armor ornament for the Hunter helmet Celestial Nighthawk
- the exotic ship Ódrerir
- a weapon ornament for the Coldheart
