For Destiny 2, today, October 1, 2019, is a very special day. Not only is the Weekly Reset happening today – also the highly anticipated Shadowkeep expansion and the Free-to-Play version Destiny 2: New Light are launching. The third year begins.
Many have been waiting for this: After a massive maintenance and possibly some time in the queue, it is finally here. The Destiny servers are back online. If Update 2.6.0.1 is installed, you can now dive into the new content of Destiny 2: Shadowkeep or try out Destiny 2: New Light, the new Free-to-Play version of the game.
What makes today so special? Today marks a new era for Destiny. With Shadowkeep, Bungie is launching its first creation after the split from Activision. This is expected to be a milestone for the further development of the MMO shooter and is eagerly watched by numerous fans and critics.
There are numerous changes, such as the new armor system Armor 2.0, which aims to bring more RPG elements and depth to the game, or New Light, a free version of Destiny 2 designed to make the universe accessible for many new guardians.
Bungie is consistently working on its own vision of Destiny, and the dawn of Year 3 marks the beginning of what we hope will be a long journey.
The Weekly Reset without Weekly Reset
What about the usual reset? Today, the usual Weekly Reset also takes place. But for the usual information on sources for powerful loot and the weekly activities, you will have to wait another week.
Why? As mentioned at the beginning, a lot will change in Destiny 2 today. We take this as an opportunity to study these changes closely and to calmly adapt our existing format to deliver you the best possible result. And that goes for all guardians – whether you are playing Shadowkeep or exploring New Light.
Next week, you will again have the most important information available – whether in a similar, moderately adapted or completely new form. We hope you understand. After all, we’re doing this for you.
Have fun in the new era: However, we also want to use this article to celebrate and welcome the third year of Destiny 2 together with you.
For many, today marks a great homecoming on the Moon, others are taking their first steps as guardians today, and still others may intend to dust off their old armor. But one thing connects us all: We all want to have as much fun as possible together this evening.
