Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of Destiny 2. A song has been dedicated to it.
It has become a tradition in Destiny. Well-known pop songs are transformed into Destiny tunes, sung with enthusiasm, then Nova Bombs are thrown, and dancing ensues. This was the case with “Stacy’s Mom” – it became a hommage to Destiny’s dark Cassandra, Eris Morn. It is said that she was very pleased and gifted the singers raisins and celery.
Wake me up on September 8th
The Youtube group “Husky Raid” has previously gained attention through Destiny videos. Typically, the videos always start with a typical Destiny scenario: Something mysterious happens, the tension is palpable, weapons are drawn, the trigger finger itches, then everyone goes wild and dances.
This time the group did something different. They transformed Green Day’s song “Wake me up when September ends” into Destiny. And it says “Wake me up on September 8th” – that is the date when Destiny 2 is supposed to release: the release date.
Bitter sweet farewell reflects community mood well
The video is well made. It is a bitter sweet farewell to Destiny 1, mixed with the longing wait for Destiny 2, which seems so far away.
The video sums up the conflict many long-time fans of Destiny 1 are currently feeling: they are caught in an emotional conflict between longing and farewell pain.
People reminisce about the “old Destiny”, bidding farewell to everything with nostalgia. The weapons, armor, and vanity items will be left behind. But at the same time, they long for the new, for things to finally get going again, after in the first part of Destiny, after September 2015, there was only a kind of bridging and engagement program played out by Bungie.
