The Iron Banner is currently taking place in Destiny 2. Players earn valuable pinnacle gear and Iron Banner tokens in this regular PvP event. However, those who wanted to keep their Iron Banner tokens should not do so. MeinMMO tells you why you should act quickly now.
Last Tuesday, the first Iron Banner, a recurring, temporary PvP event hosted by Lord Saladin, officially started in Season 16. It not only brought variety to PvP but also two new weapons. Among them are the hand cannon “The Borderlands’ Scream” and the sword “Blade of the Knife” as well as another origin trait.
In the meantime, Bungie has commented on the Iron Banner tokens in the current TWaB (This Week at Bungie blog). As MeinMMO has already suspected, there will indeed be updates regarding Saladin and how he distributes rewards. This will automatically lead to the elimination of Iron Banner tokens and loot pulls.
Since the Iron Banner is an event that is only active every 4 weeks, we would like to remind you again that you only have two Iron Banner events left to collect your rewards, including the week from April 12 to April 19, 2022. Anyone who has not redeemed their tokens by Tuesday, May 24, at 7 PM, will no longer be able to use them.
Adjustments to the Iron Banner and Lord Saladin could also hint at the explosive “Pastebin Leak” in Destiny 2, which we have already reported on:
– Destiny 2 wants to revamp PvP – What does this mean for the Iron Banner?
What tokens are we talking about exactly? During the event, players earn what are called Iron Banner tokens, a currency that can later be exchanged for Iron Banner rewards, such as weapons and armor, from Lord Saladin.
Last weekend, Bungie unexpectedly and at very short notice warned players that they should definitely turn in these tokens by the end of the event. And this is despite the fact that two more Iron Banner events are still planned this season.
- The next Iron Banner event will take place on April 12, 2022.
- You will have your last chance on May 10, at the last Iron Banner of Season 16.
- The Season of the Risen officially ends on May 24, 2022.
This is what Bungie communicated: Dylan Gafner (dmg04), Bungie’s Senior Community Manager, stated on Friday on his Twitter account that he recommends players to hand in their Iron Banner tokens, because otherwise, they will be lost by the end of the last Iron Banner event in Season 16.
Why is this notice so important? In the past, Bungie has implemented a new reputation rank system for several NPC vendors to provide players with more direct ways to claim their loot. Instead of collecting activity tokens, players now automatically level up and gain reputation for playing the respective activity.
- First, the Trials of Osiris were switched to the improved reputation rank system.
- In Season 13, the Crucible and Gambit followed with an overhaul.
- In Season 15, for Witch Queen, the Vanguard under Commander Zavala received an adjustment.
- And finally, Banshee-44 was equipped with a new reputation upgrade.
This will likely change in the Iron Banner soon: As it appears now, the new reputation rank system will soon be activated for Lord Saladin and the Iron Banner.
- You will automatically level up just by playing the Iron Banner activity
- There are fixed rewards to aim for
- As rewards, rare upgrade materials, often an Ascendant Shard await
- You can even reset your rank and then enjoy exotic engrams
Although this change for the Iron Banner has not yet been officially confirmed by Bungie, the announcement from the Community Manager makes this very likely in the near future, at the start of Season 17.
How to redeem your Iron Banner tokens with Lord Saladin
When should you redeem the tokens? It is advisable to hand in your earned Iron Banner tokens to Lord Saladin by Tuesday, May 24, at 7 PM, which is when the last Season 16 Iron Banner event will take place from May 17 to May 24.
You can see how many you have in your inventory, as you currently automatically receive tokens by completing matches and Iron Banner loot pulls, with victories rewarding you with more tokens.
- For each completed Iron Banner loot pull, you receive 50 Iron Banner tokens each
- 20 tokens can be exchanged with Lord Saladin for a piece of Iron Banner gear.
To ensure that you don’t lose anything, you should definitely check in with Lord Saladin. Players who do not hand in their Iron Banner tokens with Lord Saladin may lose them. Please also be aware that there may already be planned downtime for the weekly reset.
How many Iron Banner tokens do you still have in your inventory? Are you looking forward to this adjustment, or does it annoy you that you constantly have to redeem your tokens because Bungie is restructuring the NPC vendors? How do you like the new reputation rank system for vendors? Better or worse?
