Destiny 2 has enhanced the old playlists with trendy but really rare weapons. They will be available more frequently soon, so save yourself the time now and don’t farm yet.
This is about these rare weapons: With the start of Season 13, the so-called core activities have received fresh loot. For completing strikes, Crucible, and Gambit matches, you can earn 2 new guns each with a bit of luck.
These 6 guns (see title image) are exclusive to their respective playlists and you really need a lot of patience because:
- on one hand, the drop rate is frighteningly low
- on the other hand, the perk pool on the guns is huge.
- both together result in a vanishingly small chance for a God Roll (the best combination of attachments and perks)
If you’re planning long farming sessions now, you should postpone the date. Bungie is talking about changes and why the items are so rare.
That’s why you should wait
This is changing: During Season 13, by May 2021 at the latest, Bungie wants to increase the drop rates of the playlist-exclusive weapons. So you will soon have a better chance of getting a Last Dollar from Gambit.
So ideally, save yourself the time now and instead use it for other things. If you can wait that long… But with the low drop rate, it saves you a lot of frustration if you would end up empty-handed again after completing a match.
There will be no new way to earn the guns, and the perk pool will not get smaller either. In the future, Bungie plans to add more new playlist weapons – but only in future seasons that are not specified.

- High on the Guardians’ wish lists are also the Crucible sniper Frozen Orbit and the strike rocket launcher Royal Entry.
Why are the weapons so rare?
This is what Bungie says: Chris Proctor is “Weapon Feature Lead” at Bungie and discusses the rarity of the new weapons in a blog post (via Bungie.net). According to him, the weapons have such large perk pools so that players can take a long time hunting and try many options.
Our goal in introducing these rewards was to create space for longer periods of time as well as ritual-specific goals for players when they hunt the perfect roll of a weapon, and to explore the possible space for perk rolls on a weapon archetype in the same way that weapon designers do.
This way, Guardians should find every drop of the playlist weapons interesting and immediately be eager to click on the gun to browse the perk combinations. Due to the insane possibilities, there isn’t “the one God Roll”.
All these combination possibilities are there with Last Dollar:
Proctor notes, however, that the weapons currently appear far too rarely. With the increased drop rate, Guardians should have “a more positive experience” when they complete an activity. But due to the large perk pool, it shouldn’t become a short-term grind. Since the hated soon sunsetting story is, you have less pressure anyway.
This is reminiscent of Destiny 1, where there was only the notorious Eyasluna drop after Crucible matches. The powerful hand cannon was a favored drop until the switch to Destiny 2, and immediately the roll was clicked, it could be the God Roll.
