Destiny 2 released the latest patch 4.0.1 yesterday. Alongside a few additional bug fixes and optimizations as standard hotfixes, there were also a few changes that nobody expected. MeinMMO has looked into the changes you should definitely know about and why an apparent Trials bug is actually a feature.
During the last Trials weekend, a report circulated in the Destiny 2 community that players could receive an Adept version of the then Trials meta weapon “Shayura’s Wrath” through the “Pass of Confidence”, despite losses.
Players could lose and just keep going. However, what was initially considered a bug that was supposed to be fixed with patch 4.0.1 has now surprisingly turned out to be a future Trials feature in Destiny 2.
This is what Bungie communicated in patch 4.0.1: First of all, Bungie has fixed the issue where Master Trials weapons could drop for seven victories. Previously, obtaining the weapons was only possible if you had a Flawless Ticket.
“It’s not a bug, it’s a feature”: In the same section, the developer also noted that this bug was “ironically” a byproduct of an intended change that Bungie has been working on since the last season.
It is indeed intended that the drop rates for Master weapons in the Trials will be increased for players in the future. Accordingly, the following adjustment results.
Once players have been flawless in a specific week, they now have the chance to earn Adept weapon drops for every Trials ticket that has achieved 7 or more victories while the Flawless Pool is active, regardless of the number of losses. This resets weekly.
Bungie shared in the patch notes for update 4.0.1
This will make it significantly easier to obtain the coveted Master weapons in the “Trials of Osiris”. Additionally, this change is expected to improve the player experience in the future and help the Flawless Pool feel more rewarding.
Besides this change, Bungie has also made other adjustments that players should be aware of. These include several buffs and weapon adjustments, as well as changes to weapon crafting.
Pistol stability improved: If you found the pistol from Savathun’s Throne World “Empirical Evidence” too unstable so far, you should test it again. It has been massively improved in stability and now plays similarly well as the pistol “Breaklight” from the Season of Dawn.
Some weapon perks have been revised: The exclusive raid perk “Lock and Swap”, where you can increase the damage of your weapon if you dealt damage with all equipped weapons within a short time, has also been improved with update 4.0.1.
- “Lock and Swap” now grants a damage boost of a whopping 35% instead of 20%.
Bungie has similarly improved the Enhanced perks “Chain Reaction” and “Ready for Anything” to offer more weapon types benefits.
Unfortunately, how exactly these adjustments have been made has not been disclosed. However, it is quite possible that crafting weapons with these perks will have more advantages in the future that still need to be discovered.
Weapon crafting offers more extraction options: Bungie has already begun further adjustments in weapon crafting. Once you have unlocked a resonance weapon, you can now select an additional option for extraction. This now grants you 300x instead of only 200x Neutral Element. This allows you to avoid accumulating soon-to-be-removed crafting materials, such as Powerful or Refined Element. This also means that in the future, you will only need to tune 8 instead of 10 weapons to unlock an Enhanced Perk.
Frames in the inventory provide more clarity: Bungie has also made some visual improvements. Now all items in the inventory that have already reached the maximum limit are marked in a different color.
Bungie is bringing more changes tomorrow: For tomorrow, April 22, players can expect the next wave of changes in the “This Week at Bungie” blog, short TWaB. As Bungie’s community manager informed via Twitter, the TWaB already had over 9000 words and is supposed to include a comprehensive weapon update.
Perhaps this will also bring the nerf for one of the currently most popular exotics:
What do you think of the changes? Have you already noticed the new benefits? And most importantly, how do you feel about the adjustment that more players will soon have access to the coveted Trials loot? Feel free to let us know your opinion in the comments.
