In Destiny 2 today, on 09.02., Update 3.0.1 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, as well as on PC and Google Stadia kicks off Season 13. The patch brings many revisions, new content and fixes to the game. MeinMMO provides you with an overview.
This is on the agenda: Starting this evening, Guardians can dive into the Season of the Chosen. This is the first new season since the “Beyond Light” expansion (2020), during which Season 12 ran concurrently.
Update 3.0.1 is now live on all platforms. On PS5, it is 4.7 GB.
But before you take on the Cabal and collect new exotics, you must download Update 3.1.0 and also take a mandatory break during the maintenance.
MeinMMO updates this article throughout February 9 to keep you up to date. Additionally, there will be a preview of the numerous changes, fixes, and later the official patch notes.
Update 18:05: Bungie has reported (via Twitter) that there may be issues and even crashes during your first visits to Season 13:
There may be some inconsistencies in seasonal activities such as the H.E.L.M., the Trial Hammer, or the Battlegrounds. Additionally, you should ensure that you always have a free inventory when collecting rewards. Furthermore, whichever account you log in to first will also receive the season pass – interesting for those who play or plan to play via crossplay.
Maintenance on 09.02. – Everything about the process and server downtime
These are the important times:
- 17:00 German time, maintenance work begins in the background.
- 17:45 the Destiny servers go offline. If you are still in the game, you will be removed from all activities and cannot log in anymore.
- From 18:00 the Update 3.1.0 goes live on all platforms and in all regions.
- Once you have downloaded (and copied) the update, you can log in and play the new Season 13 of Destiny 2.
- 19:00 the maintenance work should be completed as planned.
Please note: In the past, it has taken a bit longer for the servers to actually come back up and for the update to be downloaded.
As always, it also applies: until the maintenance is completely over (19:00), there can be login issues and queues. Third-party applications or the official companion app cannot be used properly during maintenance, and some functions are limited.
What changes today in Destiny 2 with Update 3.1.0
These revisions are coming: At the start of a new season, traditionally nerfs and buffs in Destiny 2 are expected. This time, among other things, rocket launchers are the winners, and swords are the losers. Here you can take a first look at the new weapons and loot from the Season of the Chosen:
Bungie has also announced numerous fixes and profound changes in recent weeks, which will go live together with Season 13:
- The token system is being revised – Therefore, all of your Crucible tokens are gone
- Weekly bounties are mostly going away and in their place comes a new, seasonal challenge system. Because Destiny 2 no longer wants to be a bounty simulator
- You can now gild titles and show off
- 9 lost exotic masterwork catalysts are coming back to the game
- The popular umbral engrams, with which you can determine loot yourself, are returning
These bugs will be fixed
- The Crucible Valor and Gambit Infamy quests as part of “New Light” can now be completed after the ranks are reset.
- The Ahamkara bones now appear in the Ascendant challenges “Judgment’s Abyss” and “Cimmerian Garrison”.
- Triumphs: The triumphs “Moon Lore”, “Witch’s Wisdom” and “A Gauntlet” can now be completed in the Cimmerian Garrison.
- The bosses of the Altar of Sorrows now rotate daily.
- The public War Satellite event in the Cosmodrome’s Glimmering Grove now counts for bounties.
- The elevator shaft in the strike “Guardians of Nothing” now opens for all players.
- The boss of the strike “The Terminus of Insight” now always teleports away after scanning the Vex terminal.
- “Sea of Shadows” is no longer blocked when players bypass points to trigger the audio.
- Storm will reload the equipped energy weapon on kills.
- Merciless will once again increase its charge rate on non-lethal hits.
- Thunderlord, Unsparing Oracle, and other weapons now display their scope and/or reticle again.
However, this may not be all the changes expected tonight. Further clarity will come from the patch notes.

The community manager Dylan “Dmg04” Gaffner noted that a part of the patch notes is still missing and will be added soon.
