In Destiny 2 today, on July 30th, the large update 2.5.2 is being rolled out to the servers. Here we summarize everything important about the maintenance, the server downtime, and the new content of the patch for you. Players can look forward to the Solstice of Heroes event.
A new update is here: With today’s weekly reset on July 30th, the current Iron Banner comes to an end. The last chance to grab the cool Lord of Wolves emblem is now over.
Update 2.5.2, Patch 1.38 on PS4, is now available for download. The size of the update seems to vary from 90 MB to 135 MB.
After that, new content will begin, as the Solstice of Heroes summer event starts.

This is what Patch 2.5.2 / 1.38 brings: Event and adjustments
What’s included in Update 2.5.2: Bungie is making several adjustments with Patch 2.5.2, some of which have been eagerly awaited by Crucible fans:
- The exotic shotgun Lord of Wolves will be adjusted. Among other things, the range will be reduced
- The Iron Banner quest for the armor set will be adjusted for the upcoming Iron Banner events
- The penalty for Bad Juju cheaters is coming. Guardians who exploited to obtain the weapon and its catalyst can keep Bad Juju, but the catalyst and the exotic emote will be locked until everything has been earned “through normal means”.
- Some triumphs for the Tribute Hall will be changed
- The sword drops in the heroic version of the Menagerie will be adjusted
- Annoying performance issues will be fixed

In addition, Guardians can look forward to new content as the Solstice event begins. The summer festival runs from July 30 to August 27 and marks the end of Year 2 of Destiny 2. Shortly thereafter, on September 17, Bungie’s shooter starts Year 3 with the Shadowkeep expansion.
Destiny 2: All about maintenance, downtimes, and server outages on July 30
When are the Destiny servers offline? A small maintenance is required for the new Patch 2.5.2, which comes along with a server maintenance. Before you can jump back into the game, you must download the new update.
This is how the maintenance is expected to proceed on July 30:
6:00 PM:
- Scheduled start of maintenance
- All Guardians will be removed from their activities at 6:45 PM and will not be able to log in until 7:00 PM
- Destiny 2, Bungie.net, and the companion app will go offline
7:00 PM:
- The Destiny 2 servers will come back online
- Update 2.5.2 will be released for all platforms and in all regions
- Players may encounter issues logging in while maintenance is still ongoing
8:00 PM:
- Expected end of maintenance
- The features of the companion app should now be fully available again

This is what you should keep in mind regarding issues: If the update is taking unusually long for you today, you can manually perform the update. Bungie’s help pages explain what you need to do for that:
If the update is still not available for your console, you can try what’s called “power-cycling”. Here’s how to do it on both consoles:
- Turn the console completely off
- Ensure that the device is not in standby mode
- Completely disconnect the console from power
- Wait five minutes
- Reconnect the console to power
After that, the update should start automatically. If it doesn’t, try the manual installation once more.
