On December 11th, the update 2.1.2 for Destiny 2 has been released. The patch paves the way for the new winter event “The Dawning”. We have gathered the key information about the maintenance work, the server downtime, and the patch notes.
With the weekly reset on 12/11, the Dawning event starts tonight for all players. It is a winter festival where Destiny 2 puts on festive winter attire and Guardians can grab all sorts of festive-inspired loot.
But before it gets Christmas in Destiny 2, you need to download and install an update. It is approximately 4.84 MB on PS4.
UPDATE – Destiny 2 Server Issues after Update 2.1.2
Attention, Destiny 2 servers are being contacted: Many Guardians in the game are receiving this message after the release of update 2.1.2. Destiny 2 is currently experiencing server issues following maintenance. Many players are receiving error codes Weasel, Chicken, and Centipede.
However, as Bungie announced on Twitter, they are already investigating the issue. However, the studio did not specify how long it will take to fix these problems.
These New Features Arriving on 12/11 for Destiny 2
Update 2.1.2 will likely only bring minor changes for Destiny 2. The update is relatively small. Its main purpose will probably be to activate the winter event. The following contents of the update are currently known:

- For players under power level 600, Primus Engrams are expected to drop more frequently, allowing for greater power progress. This should enable players below 600 to catch up faster on their way to the new level cap of 650
What changes will ultimately come with update 2.1.2 will be visible tonight in the corresponding patch notes as soon as they are released.
Destiny 2: Maintenance, Downtime, Server Downtimes on 12/11
Today’s Destiny 2 update comes with maintenance work. However, there should not be server downtimes, except in emergencies. So you’ll only have to briefly interrupt your gaming experience before you can devote yourself to the festivities or other new activities.
This is the schedule for the maintenance work on December 11th:
6:00 PM:
- Expected start of maintenance work for Destiny 2
- Update 2.1.2 will be rolled out on all platforms
- The features of the companion app will no longer be available on the official Bungie site, on mobile devices, and with third-party services
7:00 PM:
- Players who do not have the new update will be redirected to the login screen the next time they are in orbit. There they will be prompted to accept the patch
8:00 PM:
- Players without update 2.1.2 will be removed from all activities and must accept this update
- Expected end of maintenance
- The features of the companion app will now be fully available again
