Today, on November 27, 2018, Destiny 2 received update 2.1.0. The patch prepares the game for Season 5, which starts with today’s Weekly Reset. You can find everything you need to know about maintenance, downtime, and the patch notes here.
On this Tuesday, Season 4 in Destiny 2 ends, the Season of the Outlaw, which was initiated with the launch of the Forsaken expansion. At the same time, Season 5, the Season of the Forge, begins. Update 2.1.0 paves the way for the new season and for the first premium DLC “Black Armory”, which will follow on December 4, 2018.
New features arriving on November 27 to Destiny 2
Update 2.1.0 is expected to be a major patch with numerous changes, improvements, and bug fixes for Destiny 2: Forsaken. The update, with the PlayStation version number 1.29, is a substantial 9.56 GB on PS4.

Some important patch content is already known:
- The update kicks off the new season of the Forge
- Seasonal ranks, clan ranks, and triumphs will be reset
- New pinnacle weapons will be introduced and can be earned
- Changes to Gambit mode
- Changes to raid challenges for clans
- Loading times on consoles are expected to be significantly improved
A definitive list of all changes will be provided in the patch notes once Bungie makes them available. Please note that update 2.1.0 is required to start Season 5 of Destiny 2.
What Season 5 brings – The Season of the Forge
With Season 5, Destiny 2 will deliver its post-launch content differently than before. There will still be free content for all players – regardless of which Destiny 2 content they own. In addition, owners of the Annual Pass will receive extra content for the first time, intended to expand the Destiny experience.

What all players receive in Season 5:
- After the Donnerlord, further heavy machine guns return to Destiny 2
- New weapons
- New content for the Crucible
- The Iron Banner PvP event
- Additional gameplay updates
- Seasonal ranks
- The “Dawn” event returns
What purchasers of the Annual Pass receive in Season 5:
- Access to the first premium DLC Black Armory
- New activity “Forging the Chain”
- New raid wing
- New exotics
- New legendary gear
- New triumphs and collections
- More bonus rewards

Destiny 2: Maintenance, Downtime, Server Downtimes on November 27.
The preparations for Season 5 and the release of update 2.1.0 today, November 27, 2018, are associated with a server downtime and maintenance. You will need to interrupt your gaming experience for a short time to download and install the new update before you can start the Season of the Forge.
Schedule for maintenance on November 27:
5:30 PM:
- Expected start of maintenance for Destiny 2
- Features of the Destiny Companion App will no longer be available on the web, mobile devices, and third-party services
5:45 PM:
- All players will be removed from their activities in Destiny 2. Destiny 2 will not be playable until maintenance ends
6:00 PM:
- Expected end of maintenance for Destiny 2
- Update 2.1.0 will be available on all platforms and in all regions
- The Destiny 2 servers will come back online, and update 2.1.0 can be downloaded and installed
6:15 PM:
- The functions of the Companion App will be fully available again

Important: The Season of the Forge starts today, November 27. The first premium DLC will be released one week later on December 4. Bungie has repeatedly emphasized that Destiny 2 will be in a transition phase during this period (November 27 – December 4). So please keep in mind that there may be unforeseen issues and limitations.
