In Destiny 2, the Forge 3, the Izanami Forge, can now be ignited. What you need to do to unlock it, and how to complete the Pillars Integration on Heroic mode, you will learn in this guide.
Since the weekly reset on December 18, the now third forge of the Black Armory is waiting to be found and ignited. We will show you all the steps needed to unlock the Izanami Forge.

Igniting the Izanami Forge – Here’s what you need to do
Just like with the previous two forges, you must master numerous steps on your way to the Izanami Forge before you can ignite it. But this time, you need to prepare for an enormous grind. The level requirement of some steps is at 630 or even higher, so it’s best to bring a solid fireteam.
Get the Vex Transponder
To get the quest for the new forge, you first need to find a Vex Transponder. This device drops randomly from any Vex enemies.
It’s best to fly to Nessus. There are numerous areas where only Vex spawn. Once you have the transponder, the first quest step will become available.
Charge the Vex Transponder
You now need to defeat 100 Vex on Nessus to charge the device. It’s best to go to the Lost Sector “The Planet Machine” in the Artifact’s Edge area.
There you should find enough Vex. Go in, kill all Vex, and complete the Lost Sector again until you have the needed kills. Then the transponder is activated.
Heroic Pillars Integration
In this step, you need to complete the public event Pillars Integration on Heroic mode. It’s important that the event is completed in the area of the Sink on Nessus. In other areas, the Public Event will not count for you.

Kill Vex Minotaurs
Now the quest requires you to take down Vex Minotaurs in the areas
- Artifact’s Edge
- Sink
- Grove of Echoes
- and Guardian’s Grave
to calibrate the Vex Transponder.
This step can take some time, as it can be really hard to find Minotaurs that are not immediately wiped out by other players. If you find an instance without other players, try to farm there for as long as possible.
Forge Mission “Bring the Flames Back to Life”
The next quest step sends you on the mission “Bring the Flames Back to Life”. The level requirement is at Power Level 630. So make sure you are at least close to the recommendation or are in a strong fireteam.
The mission will be displayed on the Nessus map in the Sink area and is self-explanatory. Just follow its course. Essentially, it’s about hacking some Vex pillars and finally defeating a big forge boss. Then you will get a broken Izanami igniter that you need to bring to Ada-1 in the Tower.
More Public Events
Once you have visited Ada-1 in the Tower, she will send you back to complete more public events. Specifically, you need to
- complete a Glimmer Extraction of the Fallen (in the EDC on Earth)
- complete a Witches Ritual of the Hive (on Titan or Mars)
- and complete a Pillars Integration of the Vex (on Nessus)
on heroic mode. How you start the respective events on heroic mode can be learned by clicking on the individual events.
Some users even report that for the Witches Ritual and Glimmer Extraction, the normal event is sufficient to successfully complete the respective quest step.
Collect Materials for the Izanami Igniter
In the last step, you have repaired the broken Izanami igniter and received a renewed igniter. However, it is still not fully functional. You first need to collect more materials. The following is required:
For this, a tour through the Lost Sectors in the EDC area of the European Dead Zone is recommended. If you manage multiple kills in a row, almost every precision kill will give an Ether item. Each item provides 2-3% progress.
Simply run through the Lost Sector “Bone Sanctum” in the area of The Rift on Io 5 times. You should collect enough Condensed Blight by destroying Taken Blights.
For the Radiolaria Mist, you need to complete another mission on Nessus. This is highlighted on the map of Nessus and is self-explanatory. Just follow the mission flow. The recommended level for the mission is 630. In summary, you need to demonstrate your jumping skills and hack some Vex pillars.
Once you have collected all the materials, you will receive the next quest step.
Charge the Izanami Igniter at the Völundr Forge
To charge the igniter for the Izanami Forge, you need to go to the Völundr Forge in the EDC on Earth and successfully complete an entire match. There are no additional tasks or new mechanics. Once that is done, you need to visit Ada-1 in the Tower again.
Advanced “Terminus of Insight” Strike
When you visit Ada-1 in the Tower, she will assign you to complete the Strike Terminus of Insight in a harder version. You can find it on the map of Nessus. The Strike Boss will drop a Cabal component at the end, with which the igniter can be fully repaired.
The Strike has a Power Level of 630 and does not feature matchmaking! The modifiers are Voidburn, Grenadier, and Extinguished. If the entire team dies, you will go back to orbit. Also, your gear will be locked. So, you should bring a strong team and clarify your gear in advance if you want to master the strike.
Ignite the Izanami Forge
Now you can finally ignite the Izanami Forge. To do this, you need to go to the new forge and bring the boss, a Vex Hydra, to its knees. Now return to Ada-1 in the Tower. There you will receive a new weapon form that can be completed and upgraded in the usual way.
The third forge is now unlocked and can be started regularly. You can now forge additional weapons from the arsenal of the Black Armory.
