In the data from Destiny 2, observant fans discovered a new, completely unknown weapon exotic after the launch of Beyond Light. Some see parallels to an iconic weapon from Destiny 1, the rocket launcher Gjallarhorn.
Where does the information come from? A few days ago, Destiny 2 launched with the new expansion Beyond Light and the new Season 12 into its now 4th year. With that, various new content has been introduced to the game – including new exotics.
Bungie likely already showcased most of the exotic novelties in the exotic trailer. However, after the new content went live with Update 3.0.0.1, an exotic weapon was discovered in the databases of Destiny 2 that had not been seen in any trailers or promotional material.
A mix of Gjallarhorn and Wardcliff Coil
This is the new Exotic: It is a rocket launcher, thus a power weapon. It is called “Eyes of Tomorrow” and comes in a futuristic look that fits well with all the high-tech facilities of Clovis Bray on the new location Europa.
This new weapon can do: The exotic perk is called “Everything in Sight”. With this, the rocket launcher can track and fire at multiple targets simultaneously.
This is complemented by another special perk – namely “Adaptive Munitions”. When you eliminate 4 or more combatants with a single salvo, the damage of the next salvo increases.
Furthermore, data already indicates that this new exotic will receive a masterwork catalyst. However, what this actually does is currently unknown.
This is what players are saying about this weapon: Many are curious and skeptical at the same time. On one hand, this weapon reminds some of the infamous Gjallarhorn from Destiny 1, which unleashed a whole salvo of its homing Wolfpack rockets after impact.
As Bungie does not intend to bring back the Gjallarhorn, they think that in this way, they could at least get a comparable, nostalgia-infused weapon.
For many, the new exotic shows strong similarities to the Wardcliff Coil – also an exotic rocket launcher. The coil also fires volleys of rockets with light homing capabilities.
Many players see “Eyes of Tomorrow” as a mix of Gjallarhorn and the coil – practically their baby. For some, there’s even a slight touch of Truth – also an exotic rocket launcher with distinctive, aggressive homing. Some are already hooked on this mix and are very curious about how the weapon will ultimately perform in practice.
On the other hand, some are skeptical whether Bungie is really producing a strong weapon here. Some fear, for example, that the damage of individual projectiles may be low, so that the weapon will not be as overpowered as the Gjallarhorn once was – especially against single targets.
Is this the reward from the new raid?
This supports the theory: The prevailing opinion is that this weapon will be the raid exotic from the new raid in the Deep Stone Crypt.
The rocket launcher is not visibly tied to a quest; all “regular” exotics have likely been introduced by Bungie by now. The exotic weapon from the season pass has already been released as the shotgun Duality, and the iconic hand cannon Hawkmoon will be brought into the game through a quest during Season 12. There are not many more options than the raid.
Furthermore, this weapon is connected to Clovis Bray and the BrayTech company, which is now focused on the new expansion and has an important base on Europa. The Deep Stone Crypt appears to be a secret research facility of BrayTech. Therefore, there are indications that “Eyes of Tomorrow” could indeed be the exotic reward from the new raid.
