After the Dawning event ended this week in Destiny 2, Guardians grabbed their new weapons and stormed the Crucible. It has been shown that a small, frosty SMG, with the right perks, becomes a quick, efficient, and thus cold-blooded killer in PvP.
In December, only a few Guardians had the small killing machine on their Dawning wishlist 2021.
- Too little zoom (13 without plus)
- Way too short range (46 without plus)
- and only a 750 rate of fire
These were enough reasons for some players to disregard the submachine gun from the Christmas event. Its stats cannot compete with the top SMGs like “Shayura’s Wrath” and it is considered to be rather unstable.
And yet, it has now been shown that a well-rolled weapon can make a difference in any activity in Destiny 2. Even if at first glance it doesn’t seem to offer much and is not meta.
Which weapon is it? We are talking about the SMG “Kältefront”. Guardians could get this submachine gun during the Dawning event 2021 through reward gift packages from Eva Levante or as a drop from NPCs delivering cookies.
In a recently released video, the player OmniBready shows his new “Kältefront” to the community in action. With the right perks and a bit of enemy luck, the SMG becomes a real eliminator in the PvP mode “Control”.
No shield can help: Even the shield that players receive automatically after respawning in PvP in Destiny 2 gets easily taken down by the SMG. The opponent is barely spawned and already dead. They didn’t even have a chance to react, the small submachine gun sends them back to the cold down so quickly.
What makes the weapon so strong? Fundamentally, Kältefront is still a rather average submachine gun. In the shown video, it is mainly due to the perk “Harmony” that the Guardian was able to eliminate their opponents so quickly.
- “Harmony” causes kills with other weapons to temporarily increase the damage and performance of the weapon.
For the weapon to be effective, it is necessary to have previously achieved kills with another weapon. Only then do you benefit from the advantages and maximize the weapon’s performance when the perk is active.
How strong is “Kältefront” in comparison?
The impressive performance of the player with “Kältefront” is certainly remarkable. Nevertheless, there are indeed significantly better alternatives that can also drop with the perk “Harmony”.

Shayura’s Wrath with “Harmony”
The relatively strong PvP submachine gun “Shayura’s Wrath” can only be earned by players in the exclusive PvP mode “Trials of Osiris”. It has a 600 rate of fire compared to 750 and an enormous 17 zoom (without perks or scopes). In addition, it features outstanding range and high aim assist. Overall, the Trials SMG consistently impresses with strong stats and plays more like an auto rifle.
The difference between the two weapons is that “Kältefront” could be obtained by everyone and very easily. It may not be the top killer, but it shouldn’t be underestimated either.
Don’t forget: With every weapon, personal preferences play an equally important role. If you can’t handle a weapon well, then even the best perks won’t always help.
