In Destiny 2, the Twitch streamer Sean “Gladd” Gallagher has been on duty since Tuesday night. A riddle is pushing him to the limits of what is possible. This has garnered him subscriptions and donations of several tens of thousands of dollars on Twitch, but even Bungie says: “Time for bed.”
What is happening? Normally in Destiny 2, there are no surprises. A roadmap meticulously explains exactly which piece of content comes into play on which day.
But the weekly reset on Tuesday surprised players: In the “Corridors of Time,” a riddle emerged. The task is like one of those Russian nesting dolls: Once one riddle is solved, another, even more wicked puzzle pops out.
It now seems clear: The brain teaser will not be easy to solve, but requires contemplation, testing, and playing for hours.
Here you can see the streamer Gladd showing minor signs of fatigue. Really hardly worth mentioning. This is said to have occurred after about 42 hours.
How much has the streamer played? The Twitch streamer Gladd is considered one of the best PvE players in Destiny 2, known for being resilient and hardworking. He is the one who, together with the community, was able to solve the last major riddle in Destiny 2 regarding the Niobe Labs.
But this new riddle seems to be pushing him once again to his limits:
- He started his first Twitch stream on Tuesday, broadcasting for over 29 hours
- He only took a 6-hour break
- and started streaming again on Thursday. Here he streamed for nearly 24 hours.
Thus, Gladd has been seen live on Twitch for about 54 hours out of a possible 60 since Tuesday night. At the moment, he is taking a break.
This marathon streaming has already prompted community manager Dmg04 to intervene Wednesday night and ask the chat to please send Gladd to bed.
Gladd receives “something in the eye” before reaching 15,000 subscriptions
How is the stream being received? According to dotesports, the response to the marathon stream is extremely positive. The riddle is exhausting, laborious, and difficult. The community continually contributes their own ideas for the streamer to test.
Interest in the Twitch stream surrounding the riddle is high:
- Gladd has about 5 times more viewers during his two new streams than usual. (Via sullygnome)
- If Gladd usually streams Destiny 2 content on Twitch to around 2000 viewers, now it averages 10,000 to 11,500 viewers.
When Gladd briefly reached 15,000 subscriptions, he got “something in the eye.”
Viewers are being generous: Gladd displays his “sub count,” showing how many players support him with a paid subscription on Twitch.
In the end, the counter stood at 23,521 subs. The subscriptions could bring him about $70,000, depending on what distribution he has negotiated with Amazon and how many “higher subs” are involved. If these subs are not canceled, he receives the money monthly.
Additionally, Gladd received further donations, including one over $2,000.
So the overtime is paying off for Gladd. After the departure of KingGothalion to Mixer, Gladd is the largest Destiny streamer on Twitch.
But he is still wished to take longer than a 6-hour break and get some sleep.
