With accusations against the Destiny-2 streamer “SayNoToRage”, the wave of allegations and scandals in gaming began two weeks ago. The streamer now claims his innocence in a new video and considers the allegations against him to be a malicious collusion by women. However, Twitch bans his account.
This is the streamer in question: The streamer “SayNoToRage” has 168,463 followers on Twitch and was, until a few weeks ago, one of the most active and popular streamers for the online shooter Destiny 2. He was behind the PvE expert Gladd and the PvP specialist Gernaderjake, coming in at number 3.
But on June 20, female Twitch streamers and other women came forward accusing him of sexual harassment over the past few years. It was claimed that the streamer had groped them at various events and pressured them or otherwise put them in uncomfortable situations.
Following this, Bungie announced that they would never work with him again.
We reported on the case at MeinMMO.
Incident triggers avalanche in gaming
This was the outcome: The allegations against SayNoToRage came on June 20. But they did not end with him. In the days that followed, more and more women came forward accusing men in the gaming industry of sexually harassing them. This led to a series of resignations, bans, and scandals in recent days:
- the head of a streaming agency resigned
- the WoW guild Method collapsed
- there were demands for the resignation of the CEO of Twitch
Twitch streamer speaks of conspiracy against him
This is what SayNoToRage says now: The streamer published a long video on YouTube (via YouTube):
- the streamer says he is innocent – the women have teamed up to take him down because he became too successful
- he has involved his lawyer and cease and desist letters are on their way
- they also contacted Twitch because the female streamers violated the community guidelines
- these were misunderstandings that could have been clarified differently. He admits he did not always behave properly and said things that one should not say as a married man. However, he is certainly not someone who sexually harasses women. Now he has been ruined and lost all sponsors, a lot of money, and revenue opportunities
He says that the women defamed him. They conspired to harm him.
The streamer then also went live on Twitch to further discuss and explain the YouTube video.
This is the ban: Twitch has banned the streamer. However, there is still no information on how long the ban is or why it was imposed. Twitch does not usually disclose this information (only in the case of the US President did Twitch make an exception): Instead, this information must be made public by the streamer himself.
In recent days, Twitch announced that it would begin investigating incidents involving streamers accused of sexual misconduct more rigorously. Twitch aims to impose appropriate penalties (via twitch).
After SayNoToRage defended himself on Twitch and attacked the women who accused him, streamer Sarah Daniels bitterly complained on Twitter. She is one of the female streamers who raised allegations against SayNoToRage.
It seemed to upset her that Twitch was now being used as a platform to raise allegations against her.
When the news came that SayNoToRage had been banned, she wrote: She couldn’t stop crying. Apparently out of joy.
At the moment, Twitch seems to want to take action and bans streamers who have displayed misconduct. However, Twitch only rarely explains why a streamer was banned. Thousands are now puzzled why the popular Twitch streamer Dr Disrespect was banned:
