Destiny 2 has announced upcoming content for Episode: Heresy with its recently released livestream, and one of them is a collaboration with Star Wars. What you can expect and how the community feels about it can be seen here.
What collaboration can Destiny 2 players expect? Bungie has orchestrated a new collaboration with the brand “Star Wars.” The Force is not only present in the Guardians but also in the Jedi and Sith. With the release of Episode: Heresy, fans will have the opportunity to purchase skins, emotes, finishers, and other cosmetic content for real money through the Eververse.
The skins are Stormtroopers from the universe of lightsabers. Depending on which ornament set you choose, you will receive the following armors:
- Hunter – Deathtrooper
- Warlock – Alternate variant of the Royal Guard
- Titan – Stormtrooper
Collaborations are often not well received by the community, as fans believe Bungie is saving resources for more important aspects of the game, like modes. However, in this case, the Guardians can hardly wait.
A collaboration that fits Destiny 2
What are fans saying about the crossover? They find the choice of collaboration perfect on Reddit and the implementation successful. Many can hardly wait to dress their Guardians in the iconic trooper outfits of the vast galaxy. The following comments can be heard:
- “I have gotten into the habit of never spending money on video games anymore, but I already feel my money leaving my wallet for this.” – porridge_in_my_bum
- “Literally the same. I’m buying this whole collab set, idfc” – Vivid_Plantain_6050
- “Also, the Death Star shell looks sick” – bootlegportalfluid
- “Hunters getting Death Trooper? Just take my money now, Bungo” – CMDRLtCanadianJesus
What collaborations has Destiny 2 had before? Before Star Wars, the loot shooter had crossovers with:
- The Witcher
- Fortnite
- Street Fighter
- Doki Doki
- Ghostbusters
- Mass Effect
- Assassin’s Creed
Has there been criticism of collaborations? Destiny 2 is a rather serious game in its own game world. While collaborations help keep players returning and fund the loot shooter, such actions are often under criticism.
In the collaborations, a distinction is made between those that integrate well into the universe and those that feel out of place. Star Wars, in this case, provides an exception with The Witcher and Mass Effect, as such elements are already present through the Iron Banner and the futuristic look.
Ghostbusters or Street Fighter, on the other hand, disrupt the immersive feel as they appear out of place and do not integrate well due to their design. However, the sentiment around Star Wars looks good so far, and fans can look forward to many futuristic ornaments. What do you think of the ornaments? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
