The Trials of Osiris has a long history with the Trials in Destiny 2 and Part 1. Now, after an endless odyssey, Bungie decided to provide the Trials with a new mode, and the Guardians are allowed to test it. We at MeinMMO show you all the important innovations.
This is the experiment: Destiny 2 is currently celebrating great PvP successes. However, as the Trials have remained largely unchanged for 6 years, Bungie is now experimenting with a “Trials Lab”. This brings a new mode and rule changes to the PvP endgame.
Furthermore, Bungie explains why they want to protect solo players in particular and addresses the harsh criticism from the previous week. MeinMMO explains how the Trials attract you as a lab rat this time.
Important information about the new Trials mode
How does the mode work? You will play the elimination mode as usual, but you will also have to capture random zones on the map. The mode has been slightly changed compared to the familiar Trials.
- 30 seconds after the start, a capture zone will spawn
- The first capture zone spawns in the middle
- The losing team of the first round gets the next capture zone near them
- You can choose freely, either you kill each other or apply pressure with the zone
When will the new mode come? The new Trials mode will go online on Friday, September 24 at 7 PM with the daily reset. You can test the innovations immediately when the Trials are online. The experiment will continue until September 28, then the Trials will take a whole week off.
During the testing period, you can expect double rank points. You will level up faster with Saint-14 and enjoy more rewards.
Additionally, you can expect:
- The player search assistance will only be activated after 2 matches have been played
- Special ammo will no longer be replenished upon reviving players
- Accidental purchases at the 14th Saint will now be avoided by requiring you to hold down your key on the products you want
- The masterwork slots on the weapons that can be obtained through the reputation rank rewards path with the Saint are now active
- The patch for the disabled counter of active players in matchmaking will be added at a later date.

Flawless for bad players only on Sunday evening?
The criticized players last week: Many players who reached flawless – meaning achieving 7 wins without losses – criticized the separate matchmaking. Bungie had been observing the situation for a while and saw unfairness towards less skilled PvP players.
As a result, the separate matchmaking was implemented. This is supposed to throw the sweats and streamers into one pot so that talents can tear each other apart and not players who want to have a good time in the Trials.
This is changing now: Bungie set the time during which the separate flawless matchmaking will be available to Sunday at the daily reset.
Some German players might be upset about this, as for most in Germany, the weekend ends on Sunday at 7 PM. This leaves only Monday and half of Tuesday to avoid stronger players.

Solo players will be taken care of
Bungie speaks about lone wolves: Since solo players are the foundation of the new Trials, they will not be abandoned by Bungie. They have contributed to the new success.
Now that it can first be fought without full pre-made teams, enough solo players are needed to start matches. If those soloists only get punished, everything collapses.
Solos will be considered with many rewards, better win rates, and later also with a freelance option in the Trials. This aims to keep the Trials attractive for the solo players of the community.
