The launch trailer for Destiny 2 shows some exciting things. To make sure you don’t miss anything, here is our trailer analysis!
Yesterday evening, on August 21, Bungie released the launch trailer for Destiny 2 just in time for the start of Gamescom 2017. Many Guardians agree in the comments under the video that this was a really strong trailer – but that’s not too much of a surprise: Bungie has already proven several times that they can make trailers.
In the meantime, the community has searched every single frame of the trailer for interesting things. What they found, we will show you below.
The speaker, a void blaster – and sparrow fights?
At the beginning of the trailer, there is a scene that can cause a lot of confusion – at least if you don’t read Mein-MMO daily. An old, rather ugly Cabal character is speaking to Ghaul. This is the Consul. There is no doubt about that, as in some versions of the trailer a subtitle appears indicating “The Consul” as the speaking person:
The Consul is a lifelong friend of Ghaul and according to the project lead Mark Noseworthy, he acts as a mentor for Ghaul, like a coach on the sidelines. Apparently, the Consul is the character who pulls the strings behind the scenes.
In this scene, we also get an important piece of information: The Cabal have kidnapped the Speaker. There were fan theories that the Speaker could be a “bad” character, collaborating with the Cabals, or even the Consul himself. However, the trailer clearly shows that the Speaker is being held against his will:
Here we see Hawthorne – a new character we meet on the Farm. Apparently, she can also handle a sniper:
On the right side, there is a Guardian in armor that looks a lot like “Vex”:
Here, Zavala grabs a weapon from a Cabal.
In this scene, Ikora Rey shoots with a shotgun on a Sparrow. In Destiny 1, it was not possible to use weapons on a Sparrow. Presumably, this will also not be possible in Destiny 2, even though some Guardians are now speculating about it – but it looks cool in the trailer:
This Hunter has an interesting weapon in hand – possibly an Exotic:
Which weapon type it can be assigned to is hard to say. The gun seems to fire explosive Void lasers. In this video by Unknown Player, you can see it (position marked at 1:18):
At the end of the launch trailer, two Guardians are fighting against a towering Hobgoblin of the Vex. When we will encounter the enemy in Destiny 2 remains to be seen. It looks like a strike boss:
Here you can see a large door on Io that resembles the Glass Chamber:
Already in the console beta, there were hints to the Glass Chamber found on Nessus.
