In Destiny 2 the top weapon Izanagi’s Burden has been nearly unreachable since the launch of Shadowkeep. The patch on 29.10 was supposed to change that – but it seems that hasn’t worked.
This is the situation: Since the launch of Shadowkeep (early October), the quest for the exotic sniper Izanagi’s Burden has become practically impossible to complete. We reported that new and returning players are unable to complete the required tasks.
With the last content update on October 29, these issues were supposed to be resolved. The plan was that players who are stuck in the quest or still need to complete it could finally make progress.
The update also introduced numerous new activities into the Destiny universe. These include:
- The Halloween event Festival of the Lost
- The new dungeon Pit of Heresy
- A new exotic quest for the machine gun Xenophage
What problems are currently present? The patch has solved some of the existing issues, but quest completion is still not possible. Some known bugs were not properly fixed. It seems that new issues have even crept in.
It is still impossible for new guardians and veterans to unlock Izanagi’s Burden. The currently known issues include:
- The different keys do not count for the quest “Mysterious Box”.
- The “Obsidian Crystal” cannot be used properly (especially frustrating since a rare bounty is required for this).
- The blueprint cannot be obtained again if you have already had it with another character.

Team is digging on this right now. Fully understand the frustrations here, as players are looking for a top DPS weapon to use in difficult content.

Once we have more info on the underlying bug, the proposed fix, and a timeline, we’ll let you know.
The Bungie employee noted that the team is currently investigating the situation. He can completely understand the frustration in this case, as players are looking for a top DPS weapon for the hard content.
As soon as Bungie has more information on the bug, the promised fix will come. When a timeline is available, players will be informed.
Top Sniper Izanagi’s Burden
What makes the sniper so special? The sniper Izanagi’s Burden is an absolute top weapon and is among the best that guardians can currently have in their PvE arsenal.

The exotic sniper rifle is equipped in the primary slot (requires special ammo) and can thus be used in combination with the Recluse SMG and a grenade launcher – a top loadout for PvE.
What makes the weapon special is its intrinsic perk “Honed Edge”. If you hold down the reload button, the magazine is used up and compressed into a single round.
This projectile then has increased range and deals greater damage – depending on how many rounds are currently in the magazine (maximum 4). The effect can be stacked up to 4 times. Thus, the sniper deals tremendous damage in PvE and can kill with just one body shot in PvP.
By the way, the masterwork catalyst, which makes Izanagi’s Burden even better, can be obtained through the heroic Menagerie: Is a trip to the heroic mode of the Menagerie worth it?
This increases the damage from the intrinsic perk “Honed Edge” by about 20%.
