Damage is key in Destiny 2, to heat things up for your enemies. We will show you how you can massively increase your damage output!
Diligent guardians are on the move to unveil all the secrets of the game. YouTuber Arekkz has now conducted tests to find out which abilities are particularly well-suited to boost damage significantly. In addition, he provides tips on which class combinations are particularly effective. We summarize his findings for you!
Which abilities deal more damage?
Each class in Destiny has a perk or ability that increases damage output:
- Sunbreaker Titans have the ability Hammer Strike in the upper skill tree, which creates a melee attack after a sprint that weakens enemies
- Nightsaber Hunters have a powerful weapon with their super ability, the Shadow Shot, to chain and weaken opponents
- All Warlocks have a special class ability – the empowering Rift increases weapon damage for all guardians within its area of effect
“Weakened enemies” take increased damage from all team members. Each class has the potential to increase damage for themselves and other guardians.

How much percentage more damage do you deal with it?
Each ability already deals more damage individually:
- The Hammer Strike of the Titan increases damage on the hit enemy by 50% – albeit only for a few seconds
- The Shadow Shot of the Hunter increases damage on chained enemies by 35%
- The empowering Rift of the Warlock increases damage by 30%
It gets interesting when you combine different abilities. Damage output increases by a massive 95% after a Hammer Strike with an active Rift – but only for a short time.
The combination “Shadow Shot and Rift” also boosts damage significantly, by 75%.
A combination of Shadow Shot and Hammer Strike is not possible, by the way. The effect of these two attacks does not stack, which is why using all three abilities at once is not useful. However, it is advisable to first use Hammer Strike + Rift and a few seconds later Shadow Shot + Rift. This way, you can deal enormous damage for an extended period.
You can also follow Arekkz’s exact testing procedure again in the video:
In addition to these abilities, damage output over time (DPS – Damage per second) can of course be further increased (gunfight barriers reload equipped weapons). Certain perks and mods on the weapons can also increase damage further.
