With the Spring event “The Indulgence”, some cool ornaments for the event armor for Destiny 2 came along. But there’s a catch – and that’s upsetting many Guardians.
These are the ornaments in question: As part of the Spring Event, Guardians can earn a new armor set for each class. Additionally, helmets from the “Kickoff of Indulgence” sets can be equipped with cool ornaments. The more pieces of armor you wear at the same time, the larger the ornament becomes.
What you should keep in mind when hunting for these ornaments: Many Guardians find these ornaments great and try to earn them. But the new ornaments have a catch that many fans are still unaware of: They are only active for the duration of the event! In a little over two weeks, on May 7, the coveted effect will no longer be visible if you continue to wear the armor.
This is how fans are reacting: Many Guardians are disappointed and upset. In numerous Reddit threads, they vent their frustration and call for Bungie to keep this cosmetic effect permanently in the form of petitions.
If Bungie does not give in, many players feel that these ornaments are not worth the effort and grind. Some are even abandoning the hunt for the ornaments and the armors completely if Bungie does not relent. Currently, the hunt would be a pure waste of time and resources.
Some are also hearing for the first time that the ornaments will not be continuously available. Because the hint is only well hidden in the item description.
Some players are now angry that they invested a lot of time and resources into an item that will lose all its utility in a few weeks.
Whether and how Bungie will respond remains open. There has been no official reaction from the studio so far.
This is how you get the ornaments: To obtain the ornaments, you need a lot of Indulgent Essence and a fair amount of luck. Because these cosmetic items drop as rare drops from the Indulgence assortment.
These surprise packages can be obtained from Eva Levante in exchange for 75 Indulgent Essences each. They can contain various random items such as upgrade cores or gear – or indeed the mentioned ornaments.
If your playtime is limited, you should think carefully about whether to spend this event currency for a small chance at one of the new (and likely soon useless) event ornaments, or if you might prefer to secure the second weapon exotic of Season 6 – the Arbalest instead.
