In the lead-up to the Forsaken expansion for Destiny 2, Bungie provides a deeper insight into the Dreaming City. The new trailer offers numerous new details. We take a closer look at the new footage.
The Dreaming City is the home and the holiest place of the Awoken. At the same time, the Dreaming City will serve as the endgame hub in the upcoming Forsaken expansion. Most of the endgame activities will likely take place here – both for solo players as well as smaller groups and raid teams.
In a new trailer, Bungie now shows more of the Dreaming City. What does the new footage reveal?
The Locations
First, the numerous new areas of the Dreaming City catch the eye. There are picturesque natural landscapes, misty fields, majestic buildings, palaces with massive halls and statues, as well as mystically tinged structures and machines.

But the dark side of the city – the Ascendant Realm – is also visible. It is infused with darkness and Taken energy, creating a truly threatening atmosphere. Additionally, the Taken infestation is also noticeable in some areas of the actual city.
Overall, the Dreaming City looks very varied and cohesive visually. It should serve well as an endgame location in this regard.
An Old Acquaintance

In the Dreaming City, Guardians will encounter an old ally – Petra Venj.
She has received a new look and will act there as a new vendor and contact person. She will also tell more about the events in the area.
The Activities
Blind Well: Among other things, the trailer features the Blind Well, a new PvE activity.

In this event, you first have to make a sacrifice and activate the Blind Well. Then, three to six players will face waves of enemies in an arena.
Toxic gas will block some areas and force players into certain parts of the arena for combat. Additional areas will become accessible during the event. As traditionally, a boss fight awaits the Guardian group at the end.
The Puzzles: In some scenes, there are large jumping passages, some of which fans suspect belong to the numerous puzzles and secrets that Bungie has already announced for the Dreaming City.

These adventures are said to be among the toughest and most challenging that Forsaken has to offer. However, the rewards are said to be worth it.
The Raid: Furthermore, some scenes from the new raid are already visible. This can be inferred from the group size of the Guardians moving in some passages in groups of six.

The raid is set in the centrally located area “Keep of Voices” near the massive cathedral and will advance the story of the Forsaken campaign. There, the Guardians apparently enter a portal into the Ascendant Realm, where the raid will likely take place at least in parts. In the end, the Guardians are expected to face a massive creature lurking at the heart of the city.
The Enemies
In the Dreaming City, it appears that the footage primarily features the Scorn, the Taken, and the Hive. However, there are some details that are currently causing numerous discussions within the community.

Is that Savathûn? A brief scene seems to showcase an important representative of the Hive. This figure is guarded by three Hive Knights. Many fans believe that this could be Savathûn, the sister of Oryx, and she could act as one of the numerous raid bosses.

Will we see the Queen of the Awoken again? Additionally, at several points, an apparently Taken Techeun is visible. These are Awoken warlocks with immense powers who serve Queen Mara Sov. There are said to be a total of seven of them.
Since the Techeun are closely associated with the Queen, some fans speculate that Mara herself might not be far away and that we will probably encounter her during the Forsaken expansion.
An Ahamkara as a raid boss? This theory was recently proposed by fans, as a Game Informer article related to the Dreaming City stated: “It is almost like the homeland of elves from a fantasy novella, threatened by a treacherous dragon that has infected the heart of the elven lands.”

Now it gets a fresh boost. Because according to Petra Venj, a massive creature lurks at the heart of the city. Proponents of the Ahamkara theory feel validated by these words.
Another fan believes he has found another hint about a potential Ahamkara boss. A Warlock set from the trailer in conjunction with an old Ahamkara concept art also suggests this possibility in his eyes.

In the opinion of fans, the eye area of the helmet bears unmistakable resemblances to the Ahamkara dragon from the concept art image.
The Gear
The trailer showcases numerous weapons and armor pieces in the original look of the Awoken homeland. However, it is still unknown how to obtain this loot. Options include the Blind Well, the raid, or the numerous puzzles that one will encounter in the Dreaming City.

The New Supers
The new supers are once again on display. Particularly, the giant flame hammer of the Titan seems to have captivated Bungie. This is particularly frequently seen in the promotional material.

What do you think of the new details? Are you excited for September? Or are you indifferent to the ongoing promotion for Forsaken?
