On December 12th, masterpieces were introduced into the Destiny 2 universe. These are legendary, rare weapons that come with special bonuses. They have random weapon stat boosts and can generate orbs of light on multikills.
However, for the weapon stat bonuses, you are not solely dependent on luck. With enough legendary shards and masterpiece cores, you can also force your luck and reroll the masterpiece until the desired perk appears. You obtain masterpiece cores by dismantling masterpiece weapons.

Which perks are the best for my weapon?
Generally, the rule is: These bonuses are added to the base stats of the weapon. This allows you to either compensate for weaknesses of the weapon or further enhance strengths. For example, if your auto rifle has a stability of 45, you can increase it to 50 with the appropriate perk.
The choice of the “right” perk primarily depends on your personal playstyle. Otherwise, here are recommendations for the best stats for each weapon type:
- Scout Rifles: Reload Speed
- Hand Cannons: Magazine Size, Reload Speed
- Auto Rifles: Reload Speed, Range
- Pulse Rifles: Reload Speed, Range
- Sidearms: Stability
- SMGs: Range
- Fusion Rifles: Stability
- Rocket Launchers / Grenade Launchers: Blast Radius or Velocity, also Reload Speed in PvE
- Sniper Rifles: Reload Speed
- Sword: Impact
