With each new season or major expansion like Shadowkeep, new items, armor, and weapons find their way into the Destiny universe. The 7 legendary weapons presented in this article are among the absolute highlights in the season of the Immortals.
In addition to the corresponding sources, we will also tell you what rolls to look out for.
The new Moon weapons – Out of this world
The first three weapons can be obtained from the Enchantment kiosk on the Moon. To get hold of the powerful firearms, you need to cleanse special essences. Read here how cleansing essences at the Enchantment kiosk works precisely:
Rest – Sniper Rifle
The sniper “Rest” (Tranquility) is in the kinetic slot and requires special ammunition. With a fire rate of 90 and a power of 70, this precision weapon belongs to the same archetype as the popular “Beloved” and is a good alternative to the sniper from the Menagerie.
This roll should be aimed for PvP:
- Extended Barrel
- Enhanced Rounds
- No Distraction (Aiming reduces flinching while under fire)
- Snapshot Sights or Opening Shot
- Range or Handling Masterwork
This roll should be aimed for PvE:
- Smallbore
- Tactical Mag or Extended Mag
- Ready for Anything
- Line ‘Em Up (Increased precision damage when at least 2 allies are nearby)
- Reload Masterwork
Love and Death – Grenade Launcher
The heavy grenade launcher “Love and Death” is currently one of the top weapons against the strongest enemies in Destiny 2. In a dedicated article, we have gone into detail about the boss killer.
This roll should be aimed for PvE:
- Rapid Launch
- Sticky Grenades
- Ready for Anything
- Trait 2: “Significantly Better” – increases explosive damage (up to 25%) the further the projectile flies
- Blast Radius Masterwork
A Small Step – Shotgun
The fast-firing shotgun “A Small Step” (One Small Step) is in the kinetic slot and requires special ammunition. You can compare the shotgun with the notorious Ikelos shotgun. Especially in PvE, you will mow down enemy hordes.
This roll should be aimed for PvE:
- Barrel Shroud
- Extended Mag or Lightweight Mag
- Grave Robber
- Triple Tap
- Range Masterwork
Why the shotgun is so powerful thanks to “Triple Tap”, you can read here. Even though the combination has been slightly nerfed, the shotgun is still very strong.
New Weapons from the Vex Offensive
The robot race of the Vex is once again making the Guardians’ lives difficult. Together with Ikora Rey, you are working to stop the invaders. In the new 6-player activity “Vex Offensive”, there are special thematic weapons. One of them, we particularly want to draw your attention to.
Optative – Hand Cannon
The 180 revolver “Optative” comes with Void damage and is characterized by its excellent accuracy. The versatile weapon is particularly convincing on consoles (PS4 and Xbox One) and can drop multiple times in a run of the Vex Offensive.
This roll should be aimed for PvP:
- Hammer-Forged Rifling or Extended Barrel
- Improved Rounds
- Quickdraw
- Kill Clip
- Handling or Range Masterwork

- Extended Barrel
- Improved Rounds

- Range Masterwork
The Weapons from the Shadowkeep Raid
The new raid “Garden of Salvation” is traditionally one of the most interesting and challenging activities of the season. It is only fair that some top weapons are waiting as rewards for the hardworking Guardians.
Holy Origin – Pulse Rifle
The kinetic pulse rifle not only impresses with its futuristic optics. The weapon is convincing in almost all areas of Destiny 2. After the third raid encounter, you have the chance to get “Holy Origin”. This aggressive 4-burst rifle can be compared to favorites like The Time-Worn Spire.
This roll should be aimed for PvP and PvE:
- Arrowhead Brake
- Ricochet Rounds or High-Caliber Rounds
- Quickdraw (unique to a Pulse Rifle)
- Kill Clip
- Range or Stability Masterwork
Ancient Sermon – Hand Cannon
The Solar hand cannon, with a fire rate of 140, is one of the reliable representatives of its kind. Also included are the “Pikass”. The firearm impresses with its versatility and consistently good stats. After the third raid encounter, you have the chance to get “Ancient Sermon”.
Furthermore, hand cannons like “Ancient Sermon” or “Optative” particularly benefit from the seasonal artifact. Many of the powerful mods are specifically tailored to this weapon class, making them even more efficient tools against current threats. One example would be the fierce champions from the new Nightfall: The Ordeal.
This roll should be aimed for PvP:
- Smallbore or Hammer-Forged Rifling
- Improved Rounds
- All perks are excellent (Quickdraw, Sliding, Eye of the Storm, and Outlaw)
- Kill Clip or Snapshot
- Range or Stability Masterwork
This roll should be aimed for PvE:
- Extended Barrel
- Improved Rounds
- Outlaw or Quickdraw
- Dragonfly or Swashbuckler
- Range Masterwork
With the combination of Outlaw and Dragonfly and a dragonfly spec, you can imitate the famous “Fatebringer” from Destiny 1.
All-Knowing Eye – Sniper Rifle
The precision rifle “All-Knowing Eye” has the Solar element and requires special ammunition. With a rate of fire of 140, the weapon is among the rapid-fire snipers.
With high aim assist (72) and the fact that you can send an opposing Guardian to the virtual afterlife with two quick body shots (of course, only if your headshot misses), the weapon is made for PvP. You need to defeat the final boss of the raid to have a chance at “All-Knowing Eye”.
This roll should be aimed for PvP:
- Extended Barrel
- Improved Rounds
- No Distraction
- Snapshot Sights
