In Destiny 2, the new Trials have started and Guardians have already died 92 million times. We show you the 10 deadliest weapons and explain why the leader has so many kills as Platz 2 and 3 combined.
Bungie has revamped the Trials of Osiris in Season 15. The mode showers Guardians with powerful loot, is now much more accessible, and finally less elitist.
Since September 10, the new Trials in Destiny 2 have been running, and it quickly became clear which weapons are meta. MeinMMO shows you which weapons gathered the most kills during the first Trials weekend and where you can get the PvP monsters.
These 10 weapons dominate the Trials:
- 1. Vex Mythoclast – 5.53 million kills: exotic fusion rifle from the “Vault of Glass” raid
- 2. Pikass – 2.85 million kills: exotic hand cannon that you can get at the kiosk in the Tower in Season 15 “Monument of the Lost Lights”.
- 3. The Messenger – 2.82 million kills: legendary pulse rifle from the Trials of Osiris
- 4. Felwinter’s Lie – 2.21 million kills: legendary shotgun that you can get at the kiosk in the Tower
- 5. Darkness Forward – 2.02 million kills: legendary pulse rifle from the Prophecy dungeon
- 6. Dorn – 1.92 million kills: exotic hand cannon that you can get at the kiosk in the Tower
- 7. The Chaperone -1.85 million kills: exotic slug shotgun that you get from a quest from Amanda Holiday / Shaw Han
- 8. The Palindrome (Master) – 1.84 million kills: legendary hand cannon from the (Top Tier) Nightfall
- 9. Fractethyst – 1.83 million kills: legendary shotgun from seasonal activities of Season 15 and Umbral Engrams
- 10. Riiswalker – 1.81 million kills: legendary shotgun from the Iron Banner

Over 5 million kills: Vex Mythoclast dominates the Trials
The kill numbers in the Trials speak a clear language: The Vex Mythoclast has accumulated as many kills during the first weekend as Platz 2 (Pikass) and Platz 3 (The Messenger) combined. All by itself, it boasts over 5 million kills, accounting for a proud 6% of all eliminations.
Here’s why the Vex is so strong: The exotic caused nightmares for Guardians in the Crucible from Destiny 1. In Destiny 2, it only became as powerful as a raid exotic should be with the new season. We from MeinMMO currently attest the Vex the status of “best weapon in the entire game” – as it performs incredibly well in both PvP and PvE, enhancing any loadout.
The new buff to range and stability ensures that the fusion rifle – which plays like an auto rifle – shreds everything at medium distance with a few shots. You can happily rain bullets from cover, and if an enemy manages to get through the cover fire, the shotgun finishes them off.
Once you have accumulated kills with the Vex, the catalyst activates and gives the weapon even more power. Additionally, it can be used as a sniper rifle, which also covers long-range after a short charging time. However, it should be noted that in the Trials, the easy handling and damage in the auto rifle mode dominate.
This explains the current Trials meta in Destiny 2
These are interesting numbers: Bungie imposed hard nerfs on shotguns and 120 hand cannons at the start of the new Season 15, the Season of the Lost. Both are reflected in the Trials statistics.
- Still in Season 15, Felwinter’s Lie dominated the mode, just like the Vex does now. Even now, the shotgun category accounts for 13% of all kills in the first Trials of Season 15.
- The family of aggressive shotguns has mostly disappeared from the top 10 except for the primus. However, the numbers show that now the 65 shotguns are gaining popularity. Despite lower range and more spread after sliding, this weapon class is firmly established in the PvP endgame and complements the Vex Mythoclast wonderfully.
- Overall, during the first Trials weekend of Season 15, nearly 20% of all eliminations are attributed to various hand cannons – making the weapon class the top killers.
- The decline of the 120 hand cannons benefits the 140 revolvers. Instead of Igneous Hammer, we now see many other hand cannons filling the power vacuum. Especially Pikass is so strong in the Trials because it provides radar even while aiming, becomes much deadlier after kills, and has a range reminiscent of 120.
- Directly, 2 pulse rifles are represented in the top 10, likely due to the current map “Burnout”. The longer lanes and the danger in close combat against the Vex force many Guardians to play safely with a pulse rifle. This class accounts for 10% of all eliminations, equal to all fusion rifles combined.
