In Destiny 2, there will probably be 3 new exotic weapons in Season 9. We take a closer look at these fresh weapon exotics and reveal what they can do. Additionally, we explain how to obtain them.
Where do the information come from? Surprisingly, Bungie released a fresh trailer for the new season before the planned reveal of Season 9 on December 4th. The official site also provided a rough introduction to the upcoming Dawn Season.
This allowed Guardians to get a first glimpse of what to expect in Destiny 2 from December 10th to March 9th, including some initial information about the new exotics.
After the new update 2.7.0 brought Season 9 into the game, new details about the new weapon exotics were discovered in-game as well as in the data. And by now, all 3 known exotic firearms are in the game.

These are the new exotic weapons in Season 9
What about new weapon exotics? Currently, it looks like there will be 3 new exotic weapons in the Dawn Season:
- a scout rifle
- a fusion rifle
- and a sidearm
Unless Bungie surprises us, it should remain that way.
The exotic scout rifle Symmetry
This exotic weapon is prominently featured in the title image and has already been confirmed before the start of Season 9.
This is what Symmetry can do: Symmetry is an Arc scout rifle for the energy slot. The two special perks are Revolution and Dynamic Charge.
This is what Revolution does: The weapon fires automatically. By holding down the reload button, you switch to Arc Seeker mode (or back to the normal mode). The Arc Seeker projectiles then track targets you aim at.
This is what Dynamic Charge does: This perk builds Dynamic Charges with precision hits. Switching to Arc Seeker mode increases damage and partially reloads the magazine – depending on the number of charges.

How to obtain Symmetry: This new scout rifle will be unlocked through the Battle Pass system via the Season Pass
- available for Season Pass buyers at level 1 of the premium reward track
- available for all players at level 35 of the free reward track
Just like the exotic hand cannon Eriana’s Vow in Season 8. So you don’t have to do anything special and there’s no need to complete a specific exotic quest.
The exotic fusion rifle Bastion
Initially, many Guardians wondered what weapon class this firearm belonged to. However, it has now been confirmed – it is a fusion rifle.
This is what Bastion can do: This exotic fusion rifle is classified as a kinetic weapon but requires special ammo (green).
The two most important perks are Blessing of the Saint and Breach.
With Blessing of the Saint, you need to charge Bastion to fire three volleys of kinetic rounds.
With Breach, part of the damage from this weapon bypasses enemy elemental shields – even though Bastion is a kinetic weapon.

The exotic sidearm Devil’s Ruin
The third exotic weapon is a sidearm that visually resembles the Unforgiven from Destiny 1 to some Guardians.
This is what Devil’s Ruin can do: This new exotic sidearm deals Solar damage and is classified as an energy weapon, but uses white primary ammo.
Its special perks are Closing the Gap and Pyrogenesis.
Closing the Gap grants the sidearm a variable trigger. Pressing and releasing fires single shots. However, holding the trigger fires a highly charged laser that destabilizes enemies. Additionally, the weapon is strong against Unstoppable Champions.
Pyrogenesis means that fully charging the laser replenishes the magazine from reserves.

What about Saint-14’s shotgun?
Some Guardians speculated that the shotgun shown in the trailer, Perfect Paradox, might also return as an exotic weapon.
This weapon was already in the game, but as a legendary version that had not yet been updated to the “new” standard with random rolls and support for new mods.
Now, the shotgun is back in an updated form with random rolls and a current mod slot but remains legendary.
Are there also new armor exotics?
Yes, there are. However, the first information about them came quite late – only after the start of Season 9 and the release of update 2.7.0. In the past, players could traditionally get a look at new exotics before the release of new content, but this was not the case this time for armor exotics.
