In Destiny 2, players freeze even without the new ice abilities, but luckily, that will soon come to an end. Bungie shows in a preview what you can expect in update 2.9.2.
Bungie provided an initial preview of a new update, which is supposed to fix annoying issues in Destiny 2 in September – some of which have plagued players throughout Season 11. Particularly interesting for players are
- a fix for the annoying Gambit freezes,
- the overhaul of the current event armor, and
- support for collectors on Mars
Additionally, there is a preview of further fixes.
When is the update coming? The update is scheduled for September 8. Bungie notes in the TWaB from August 27 that they are currently still in the error verification process. Therefore, the date may change if necessary.
Preview of update 2.9.2 for Destiny 2 – What is being worked on
Bungie responds to criticism of the summer event: The glow effects for the Solstice armor (ornament glow) will receive an overhaul.
The Solstice event is currently ongoing in Destiny 2 and lets players grind for special armor. Unfortunately, the visuals were not as impressive as originally advertised. After the update, it should finally glow as it should.
What is happening in Gambit: Numerous players are encountering an annoying problem in Gambit mode: They freeze mid-air and remain motionless for seconds – and this has nothing to do with early-access stasis abilities.
With update 2.9.2, this should finally come to an end. Bungie has identified the cause of the freeze, which is attributed to entry effects.
What’s still in the update:
- The sleeper nodes on Mars will receive a kind of “bad luck protection” – collectors should soon find the missing items “faster than expected”
- A fix for an issue where the targeting reticle of the season pass ornament “Cold Denial” differed from the base weapon. You can read more about this here: More than just pure optics: What weapon skins change in Destiny 2
- Redrix’s Claymore can now be correctly reclaimed from collections.
- Spider will now start offering three weekly “Wanted” bounties instead of just one.
- The exotic perk on the Merciless fusion rifle should work correctly after the fix.
Particularly, the overhaul of the sleeper nodes and override frequencies has often been requested by players. There were concerns that before Mars rotates out of the game, one might not be able to complete all nodes due to loot bad luck.
Bungie notes that there will be further smaller fixes in the update on September 8. More information will be released next week.
At the same time as the preview, there was also a closer look at the new dark stasis abilities waiting in the fall expansion and a mini roadmap for new information:
