In Destiny 2 has the new season started and an unpopular weapon type steps out of the shadows. Read here why the Breach Light pistol is currently so good and could even be the best primary weapon in PvE.
About this weapon: The Breach Light pistol is used in the kinetic slot and fires in bursts. This means that the weapon does not shoot a single shot when the trigger is pulled, but several shots at once. In the case of Breach Light, two hard-hitting projectiles leave the barrel each time.
The primary weapon has excellent range, aim assist, and recoil direction for a pistol. You can get Breach Light from the new Sundial activity and the Obelisks.
This is what Breach Light can do: Do you want to take out adds with a burst? With this pistol, it’s everyday life. Even a body shot is more than enough for most enemies with a red health bar. If you have a damage buff active, you can easily take on majors.
The range is surprising for a pistol. Even at increased distance, you deal solid damage. In the patch notes for the current season of the dawn, it simply stated for pistols: “Aim assist increased overall.” The update seems to have made significant improvements to the aim assist and hitbox.
Even console guardians shouldn’t have problems with the controller to hit accurately with Breach Light.
The damage test in the Lost Sector on Titan also underlines the qualities of Breach Light with hard numbers. The pistol achieves the following DPS:
- Without a damage buff, you deal 11,570 DPS against the ogre. That’s a strong value for a primary weapon.
- If you increase the damage, for example with Multi-Kill Clip, you reach 17,300 DPS.
The Destiny expert Ehorar from the renowned clan Redeem believes that this weapon will become the new meta in PvE. Watch the following video for his reasoning and see how well Breach Light performs.
This roll you should hunt: Breach Light does not come with fixed perks – unlike the current ritual weapons. To get the best combination, that is, the god roll, you have to rely on your loot luck.
Getting a good roll is not that difficult in the case of this pistol. The weapon has almost only strong perks. However, we recommend the following for PvE:
- Barrel: Go for Hammer-Forged Rifling for range or Corkscrew Rifling for a handful of stat boosts.
- Magazine: With the fallback magazine, you reload extremely quickly. Tactical Mag provides a comprehensive package for various stats.
- Perks in the first slot: Here you either go for the old acquaintance “Outlaw” for very fast reloading. Alternatively, Demolisher gives you a lot of grenade energy back on kills and reloads the weapon as soon as you throw a grenade.
- Perks in the second slot: In PvE, go all in on damage buffs. With Multi-Kill Clip, your damage increases by up to 50%.
Pistol against Recluse
This is how the Recluse currently performs: Not long ago, it was said that anyone not using the Recluse in PvE was doing something wrong. Bungie has caught wind of this and announced a nerf. How strong is the SMG now?
Especially the weapon mastery ability made the Recluse incredibly powerful. After a kill, there was a bonus to damage. The special thing was that the damage for body shots was significantly increased. Precise targeting was not necessary.
- Previously, weapon mastery brought a 20% extra damage for headshots and a whopping 100% more damage on body shots.
- Today, weapon mastery is at 20% for both head and body shots.
This means that your DPS in comparable conditions, like with Breach Light, is at 14,000, behind the pistol. In close combat, the SMG is still strong. However, the aim assist and bullet magnetism noticeably decrease after a few meters between you and the enemy. You now need to aim significantly more precisely to get the maximum out of the Recluse.
The weapon is also far from being bad or unusable in the current season. But the Recluse is no longer the all-dominating primary weapon.
