For the Autumn expansion Beyond Light, Destiny 2 has announced a new raid in the Deep Stone Crypt. However, there may be more behind the mysterious crypt than just another PvE pinnacle activity.
What is the Deep Stone Crypt all about? Destiny 2: Beyond Light will introduce a new location called Europa, an ice moon of Jupiter. And Europa is home to the Deep Stone Crypt beneath its frozen surface.
This is a mysterious facility and the birthplace of the Exo race. Furthermore, the Deep Stone Crypt is said to house the new raid from the Autumn expansion.
Players are currently pondering this: An exciting discussion has emerged in the Destiny subreddit raidsecrets. The Redditor and Destiny player Giffy117 has proposed the theory that the Deep Stone Crypt will not only be the location of the new raids but could also have much more to offer.
He believes that it could be a location in the style of the Dreaming City from the Forsaken expansion, where Guardians will not only complete the new raid but also take on missions, strikes, and patrols.
While he remains cautious and thinks he could be wrong, many players share his perspective in the comments. He receives a lot of support, and his post has already garnered over 1,900 upvotes in just one day, which is quite a lot for raidsecrets standards.
However, there are also users who see it differently, as they believe Bungie has already announced something larger than just a raid in connection with Beyond Light.
Is the Deep Stone Crypt more than just a raid? Here’s why

In total, there are two additional images, apart from the first official image from the Beyond Light description, that apparently show the Deep Stone Crypt. These even come from Bungie’s recently released official press kit.
Additionally, scenes from the Deep Stone Crypt have already been discovered in leaked gameplay footage as well as in the first gameplay trailer for the Stasis element.
Bungie’s previous patterns: Bungie always follows a strict pattern when introducing and teasing new details about Destiny 2 – especially with raids. Snippets of images or gameplay from raids are usually not shown or released in advance. Insights into a raid are only available in the corresponding raid trailer, which is expected later.
The conclusion: If Bungie has already shown over 20 seconds of footage from inside the crypt and even published the first images related to it, Giffy117 believes that the Deep Stone Crypt must be something different or more than just the setting for a new raid. It would be extremely unusual for Bungie to release so much footage of a new raid beforehand.
