In Destiny 2, a large live event took place for the first time during the season finale. MeinMMO wants to know from you: What did you think of the controversial spectacle?
What happened in Destiny? In Destiny 2, the current Season 10 is coming to an end and celebrated this with a bang. For the first time in the history of the loot shooter, players were able to witness a live event.
For three months, or the entire season, the Guardians empowered a new ally to help blow a giant spaceship crashing to Earth out of orbit. On June 6th, it was finally time: thousands of players gathered in the Tower to watch live as the threat was to be averted right before their eyes.
Season finale divides the community: With the live launch of the fleet ship, Destiny 2 ventured into territory that is especially known for Fortnite. There, players have become accustomed to excitingly staged events that change the map. During the so-called black hole event, even 7 million people watched as Fortnite completely disappeared and became unplayable for a while.
Destiny did not experience such extreme outcomes, but there was considerable destruction here as well. The fleet ship fell apart with a fireworks display, debris flew around the viewers, and since then, the social space has been damaged – it almost affected the in-game shop.
However, the way the live event unfolded did not please all viewers:
- Some Guardians would have preferred an action-packed cutscene.
- The duration of the launch drew criticism with its good 2 hours.
- Others find the concept of live events generally disappointing, as not everyone has time to participate in the spectacle.
- Some missed clearer communication from Bungie regarding the course and duration of the event.
