In Destiny 2 the Iron Banner returns soon – for the first time as part of Season 4. Find out all about the start date, the game mode, the loot, and the changes.
On Tuesday, September 18, 2018, it will happen: Lord Saladin will visit the Tower for the first time since the launch of Forsaken and herald the beginning of the first Iron Banner in Season 4.
Under the watchful eyes of the Iron Lords, Guardians can then have fun with 6v6 in the Crucible for a week. This will also kick off the hunt for new weapons and armor of the Season 4 Iron Banner that Saladin has brought for you.
When exactly does it start? And what kind of gear can Guardians expect? We have summarized all the important details for you.
Matches will be played in a 6v6 format.
- Start: Tuesday, September 18 at 7:00 PM
- End: Tuesday, September 25 at 7:00 PM
- Mode: Control
Participation requirements: All Guardians can participate in the Iron Banner – regardless of which expansions they own. Year 2 rewards with random rolls and compatibility with Year 2 mods will also be available to all Guardians.
With the start of Season 4, there will be some changes in the Iron Banner. This will align the event more closely with its original form in Destiny 1.
Power level matters again: For the first time since the release of Destiny 2, power level advantages will be activated – just as many veterans may remember from the times of Destiny 1.
This means: Guardians who can showcase a higher power level will have an advantage over players with a lower power level. They will deal more damage and take less damage. So make sure to wear your most powerful gear for the event. However, how significant the advantages are and how noticeable they will be in practice remains to be seen.
By the way: For players without Forsaken, the Iron Banner rewards will now be distributed according to their maximum possible power level.
The reward system has been revamped: Guardians will now have more opportunities to earn event-specific rewards.
Lord Saladin will offer seven weekly bounties. Each successfully completed bounty will grant you an Iron Banner reward. Two of these bounties will contain powerful gear. All Iron Banner weapons and armor pieces can thus drop for you.
In addition, the Iron Lord will also offer armor pieces and two weapons with unique rolls for direct purchase for each event. You can purchase these items once you have completed the corresponding bounty.
Additionally, there will be drops after completing Iron Banner matches. Both Crucible and Iron Banner gear can drop there.
Important: If you still have tokens left from Season 3, you can exchange them for reputation packages when the September Iron Banner starts. Even then, Iron Banner weapons and armor pieces can drop for you.
Revised map: With the start of the first Iron Banner of Season 4, a revised Crucible map will be introduced. This map will then be directly available to all Destiny 2 players in all Crucible playlists.
Owners of the Forsaken expansion will also have the opportunity to access this map in private matches. The map is set to be revealed on the upcoming Monday, September 17, 2018.
With the start of Season 4 in Destiny 2, new weapons and armor can be earned in the Iron Banner.
