The Final Shape: Everything about the preload
How do I prepare now? To prepare for the launch of The Final Shape, you should preload the game.
Bungie will conduct maintenance before the DLC release, but you will then have the opportunity to download the DLC in advance. This way, you can dive right into the action after maintenance without having to wait for the download.
When does the preload start? The Final Shape will officially launch on June 4, 2024. Maintenance will begin on June 3, 2024, at 6:00 PM and end on June 4, 2024, at 7:00 PM. As soon as Destiny 2 goes offline, the preload will be available on all platforms.
You will need a lot of storage space for The Final Shape
How big will The Final Shape be? It varies depending on which platform you play Destiny 2 on.
This is how much storage space you will need (rounded up):
- PlayStation 5: 144 GB
- PlayStation 4: 130 GB
- Xbox Series X/S: 166 GB
- Xbox One: 140 GB
- Steam: Nearly 300 GB
- Microsoft Store: 157 GB
- Epic Games Store: 277 GB
Why does it need so much? The PC version on Steam and Epic Games requires this much because both the old and new versions of the game need to be downloaded. This means you will need a lot of storage space for now – but after the launch, the old version will be removed, and you will have more space again.
