Recently, the Guardians in Destiny 2 celebrated the “double loot” bonus. It’s returning next week. We’ll look at why it’s worth it, but not as much as it used to be.
This bonus is coming next week: In the Dawning: Trial by Fire, there will be double rewards. It starts with the Weekly Reset on October 6. You will have exactly one week until October 13, when the increased loot in the Nightfall trials returns to normal values.
The bonus was first active three weeks ago and catapulted the otherwise less popular activity up the popularity scale. The reason for this is that you can farm for
- Missing Exotics for the collection,
- Exotic armor with random rolls, and
- Masterwork resources come
Why is Destiny so generous? In recent weeks, Bungie has been more generous than ever, showering the Guardians with loot, rare items, and experience points. This is due to the delay of Beyond Light to November 10. This also comes with an extended Season 11.
To give the Guardian a reason to log in, Destiny is being very generous. Among all the previous bonuses, the double loot in the Trial by Fire was the most well-received:
A Cyclops guards the double loot in the Trial by Fire
This strike is active: Throughout next week, the mission “A Garden World” (A Garden World) will take place in the Trial by Fire. You can expect numerous Vex on Mercury and a massive Cyclops as the boss at the end.
- Double loot is available at every difficulty
- While the higher levels promise significantly more valuable drops – but you’ll forgo team search
- Defeat all Champions – This way, you will reach Platinum level and the best loot by the end of the mission

Is the bonus week worth it? The double loot is very worthwhile. Especially for players who want to prepare for Beyond Light, there is hardly a better opportunity to upgrade the cost-intensive Exotics – as these are not affected by weapon retirement.
- You can even build up a stash of the rarest materials and use them freely in the DLC.
- A run on Grandmaster can yield 4 of the coveted Ascendant Shards and a ton of upgrade prisms.
- There is only very limited space in the inventory for Ascendant Shards, but the Postmaster will gladly stack them for you.

The last time the strike “Sea of Shadows” was active, it was definitely more worthwhile back then. The current mission “A Garden World” is considerably longer and especially the boss fight is more challenging. If you haven’t yet taken advantage of the opportunities, you should definitely plan a few runs.
