Is this the best Hunter build in Destiny 2? With this, you can excel in PvE and PvP!
The Hunters in the Destiny universe are considered specialists in surviving in the wild. They are brave scouts, silent killers, and experts with knives and precision weapons.
They draw their abilities from the Light of the Traveler. With one exception: The Nightstalker Hunter draws its powers directly from the Darkness, shaping an arrow (with a bow) as a Super.
This Nightstalker Hunter represents one of the most powerful Guardian subclasses in Destiny 2. If you are still looking for a build for your Hunter, you can grab your Nightstalker and recreate the following character setup. JumpinProduction presents the build in the video. It is described as the “Most Overpowered Hunter Build”, which allows you to unleash your abilities while being valuable to your teammates.
How to create the Hunter Build
For the build, you need the Nightstalker focus of the Hunter. Here you can find out how to unlock this subclass. The focus excels in both PvE and PvP.
Now choose the upper skill tree “The Way of the Trapper”. All four abilities are excellent:
- Smoke Bomb – The smoke bomb sticks to surfaces and slows down and disorients enemies. Strong in PvP, as it gives you crucial advantages.
- Eager Scout – Increases sprint speed, and you can move faster while crouched. Bound enemies are marked and can be tracked for a certain time. Additionally, you receive an extended radar.
- Deadfall – The Void Anchors fired by the Shadowshot become traps and damage enemies. Additionally, the Void Anchors have increased range and last longer. Excellent in PvE for dealing a lot of damage.
- Shadow Step – When dodging, you become invisible for a short time. Especially good in PvP, as the opponent loses any aim assist when you are invisible.
The skill tree “The Way of the Pathfinder” is also strong, but this build does not work at all with the perk Möbius Quiver. Thus, choose the Way of the Trapper.
For grenades, choose the Vortex Grenade and for class abilities Sniper Dodge (PvE) or Reckless Dodge (PvP, as it allows you to regain the smoke grenade).
The most important item in this build is the exotic boots “Orpheus Rigs”. You can randomly obtain them from various sources that can drop exotic engrams. These boots made a big impression during the early days of Destiny 2 and were immediately called the “best Exotic”.
The reason for this is the special perk:
- Intrinsic Perk: You gain ability energy for each enemy you chain with a Shadowshot
The Shadowshot is the Super of the Nightstalker. The more enemies you chain with it, the more ability energy is recharged. The “abilities” refer to the grenade, melee, dodge ability, and Super.
For the armor pieces, choose these mods:
- Helmet: Grenades recharge faster when you have a Void subclass
- Gauntlets: Grenades recharge faster when you have a Void subclass
- Chest: Class abilities recharge faster when you have a Void subclass
- Legs: Increases recovery on the Exotic
- Class Item: Class abilities recharge faster when you have a Void subclass
The weapons in this build are secondary – the abilities are the focus. So choose weapons that you enjoy playing with. For example, the strong auto rifles Origin Story or Uriels Gift.
Pay attention to the attributes, increasing resilience (at least 4) and recovery. Mobility is not a priority.

This setup should primarily be played in PvE, as here the Orpheus Rigs boots can shine particularly well. In PvP, you can also take the exotic helmet Enemy Finder – or Weak Mind Radar.
How to play this build?
In PvE, with the Orpheus Rig boots, you have pretty much the best build you can create. The special thing is: If you manage to chain enough enemies, you can fire a Shadowshot again immediately. Around 7 to 8 chained enemies are needed for the Super bar to fill completely. The grenade, melee attack, and class ability will also be recharged.
Additionally, your teammates benefit from this, as you can unleash many super attacks and generate many Orbs of Light. The Shadowshot thus not only provides Crowd Control (it can hold back enemy masses), but also simultaneously fills the Super bars of your allies.
In PvP, Orpheus Rig can also shine, but only in rare situations. In Guardian vs. Guardian combat, you mainly benefit from the smoke bombs, invisibility, and dodging movements.
In summary: This Nightstalker Hunter is incredibly strong!
