In Destiny 2, swords as a power weapon are all the rage. MeinMMO presents 4 exotic weapons that will greatly enhance your build in Season 11 and that you should take a closer look at.
This is why swords are so popular: In the Season of Arrival, many players are using a powerful sword in their power slot. No wonder, the blades deal good damage, offer a cool playstyle since their rework, and look stylish.
Especially popular are the two new swords from Season 11. These legendary weapons have brought fresh air into the game and even free up the valuable exotic slot.
In this article, MeinMMO presents 4 exotic weapons that use special ammunition, deal massive damage, and complement your “Way of the Blade” style.
If you’re looking for an exotic weapon for the primary slot, you should check out an old bow that has become a surprise hit among guardians:
Chaperone – Now 30% stronger, but twice as much fun
This exotic is about: The somewhat different shotgun Chaperone does not fire a wide spread of projectiles but a single slug. These so-called slug projectiles have the highest range of all shotguns.
Discussions have flared up regarding the range of Chaperone and the impact of ornaments on it: Cosmetic item increases shotgun damage
The exotic perk is also fully designed for precision: With “From the Street,” you gain these advantages for 10 seconds after a precision kill:
- About 20% more precision damage
- Better handling
- A faster fire rate (about 35%) – This bonus is hidden, so it is not mentioned in the perk description
Additionally, slug shotguns received a general damage buff of a whopping 30% at the start of Season 11.
This is why you should play the shotgun: The Chaperone perfectly complements your sword build. Eliminate a small add and benefit for a full 10 seconds from your sniper in shotgun form.
Majors have nothing to laugh about, and even bosses should now fear the weapon. Because of the buffs, your DPS value effectively doubles. You will be more than once amazed at how high the range of the pump really is – that slug shotguns would be good in PvE was unimaginable until recently.
The Fourth Horseman – For cowboys who prefer it “old school”
This exotic is about: The Fourth Horseman is another exotic shotgun that disregards traditions. Instead of lazily pumping lead in typical fashion, whole salvos thunder out faster than you can blink from the four barrels.
It is important to know that each rapid hit deals more damage than the previous one. If you quickly unload a magazine into an enemy, you will deal almost double damage with the last shot. This way, you achieve the highest DPS value in the game.
The incredible damage comes at a price:
- The magazine empties quickly and must be reloaded frequently
- You basically burn through the ammunition reserve
- The short range forces you into close combat
This is why you should play the shotgun: The Fourth Horseman does not compensate for any weaknesses of swords but relies on the same strengths. The weapon is ideal for those who want to see the whites of their enemies’ eyes – or whatever color the nasty aliens are.
Give the boss a complete burst from your pump and switch to the sword if he can still stand. The Fourth Horseman is simply fun: loud thunder, a fierce kick, and heavy damage. Additionally, the weapon’s “Wild West” look refreshingly contrasts with the sci-fi setting of Destiny.
Izanagi’s Burden – A sniper that wants to be a sword
This exotic is about: The Izanagi’s Burden sniper held the top spot among exotics for a long time. The reason is the special trait “Razor Edge”: This compresses the entire magazine into a kind of super bullet, which deals more damage than enemies would like.
Missed shots, however, are harshly punished with Izanagi’s Burden. When reloading starts, the notorious reload nerf becomes very noticeable. However, those with a steady hand will be rewarded with immense damage per shot.
This is why you should play the sniper: The reasons sword lovers should equip Izanagi’s Burden in Season 11 are:
- The sniper is designed like a sword – From the look to the perk names, everything screams sword
- The cherry on top is the thick metallic blade sound when you activate the exotic ability – Let’s be honest, no one plays Izanagi without activating the perk while enjoying the sound
- The weapon compensates for the weakness of (most) swords: If an enemy is too far away, one shot is enough to solve the problem, and you can continue to slash away
Even though Izanagi’s Burden is no longer atop all exotics, it would be a big mistake to not keep the sniper in your inventory.
Withering Bramble – Let your enemies taste their own medicine
This exotic is about: The exotic grenade launcher was introduced in Season 11 and has immediately captured the hearts of guardians. The special thing is that it fires the so-called Blight.
This spreads out and infects enemies, causing damage over time. If Blight takes out an enemy, the effect spreads to their comrades.
Players know the corrupting effect from the Taken, who hide in the Blight and usually poison us – It was high time we turned the tables.
The Withering Bramble gained significant popularity recently because it could quickly dismantle raid bosses due to a bug. The “problem” has now been fixed, but the weapon has lost none of its potential.
This is why you should play the grenade launcher: You can use Withering Bramble in two ways:
- You shoot an enemy directly, which poisons them heavily and deals damage over 7 seconds
- A shot on the ground contaminates a large area (also for 7 seconds) – Enemies who enter this Blight take damage as long as they stay there
- Theoretically, you could also apply both methods to an enemy at the same time, as the damage is stackable
In practice, this means you shoot a group of enemies with the Withering Bramble or poison a boss and switch to the sword. After 7 seconds, you repeat the process. If you already possess the exotic masterpiece catalyst, you won’t even need to reload, the grenade launcher will do that automatically.
The biggest Destiny streamer, Gladd, loves the Withering Bramble dearly and shows how to lock down entire areas with it:
What do you think about the featured exotics, which one fits your playstyle best? Do you even have a secret tip that not all guardians are aware of yet? Let us know in the comments.
