In Destiny 2, the Iron Banner is coming in April 2018 – for the first time in the long-awaited 6v6 format. Here are the start date, the game mode, and everything else you need to know about it.
With the March update 1.1.4, the Iron Banner event has been fundamentally revamped. Bungie moves away from the monotonous 4v4 and brings back the highly anticipated 6v6 Iron Banner.
To accommodate Lord Saladin’s PvP event to the larger participant numbers per match, additional changes have been made to the Iron Banner. Here is everything you need to know about the new Iron Banner.
Attention – Update:
The game-breaking bug that caused a delay of the April Iron Banner has now been fixed by Bungie. The Iron Banner is returning next week on April 17.

The April Iron Banner is the first to be played in the 6v6 format.
- Start: Tuesday, April 17 at 7 PM
- End: Tuesday, April 24 at 7 PM
- Game mode: Control
Power level advantages are disabled in the Iron Banner, and there is a normal player search.
Participation requirements:
- You must have unlocked the Tower, which means finishing the main campaign.
- You must be at least Level 20.
- Visit Lord Saladin to start an Iron Banner quest if you haven’t done so yet.
- The Iron Banner has its own playlist in the Crucible overview that you can play.

The “new Iron Banner” closely resembles the Iron Banner from Destiny 1. Several adjustments have been made with update 1.1.4:
- Instead of playing 4v4, you fight in 6v6
- The match time limit is set to 12 minutes
- The score limit is 125 points
- The respawn duration is 7 seconds
- All control zones are neutral at the start (if the mode is Control)
- It takes a little longer to capture control zones
- More Guardians in a zone speed up the capture (maximum is 3 Guardians)
- Guardians involved in zone captures gain more Super energy
- The map “Deadline of the Emperor” has been removed from the Iron Banner Control playlist

The Iron Banner, specifically the Control mode in the Iron Banner, has been adjusted to the 6v6 format.
By participating in the Iron Banner, you earn Iron Banner tokens. You then bring these tokens to Lord Saladin in the Tower, who exchanges the tokens for Iron Banner Engrams. The Engrams contain special weapons, armor pieces, and cosmetics. Additionally, you need tokens to purchase three Iron Banner weapons directly from Lord Saladin.
