The Last Word
The Last Word is an exotic hand cannon with the unique fire rate of 225. You fire the western revolver quickly, automatically, and ideally from the hip. The exotic has been buffed season after season and is now absolutely top tier (especially controller Guardians should grab it immediately).
This is why the exotic is so good now: The Last Word is the deadliest hand cannon for close combat. Just 3 shots from the hip are enough to take down an opponent – this corresponds to a TTK of 0.53 seconds. Hardly any other primary weapon comes close to such values.
Now that shotguns are less strong, The Last Word really flourishes. If someone rushes at you, you take a few steps back and fire automatically from the hip at everything that intrudes into your safe space. The bullets almost magnetically find their targets when firing from the hip – especially with a controller, but the weapon can also perform well on PC.
However, you should almost never use the aiming device. An advantage is that when firing from the hip you have a good overview of your surroundings. Every hit without aiming makes the weapon more accurate and reduces reload time – and that’s needed with the small magazine of 8 rounds.
No Time to Explain
No Time to Explain is an automatic pulse rifle with a fire rate of 340. The exotic has really strong stats, can reload ammunition in combat, and summon a companion that shoots with you.
This is why the exotic is so good now: As an aggressive pulse rifle, you can take down opponents with just 2 bursts (0.67 sec TTK). Since fewer 120 hand cannons can keep you in check from a distance now, it’s much easier to land these 2 automatic bursts on the enemy. With No Time to Explain, you have a good opportunity to hold lanes and surprise enemies with high damage.
You will then be assisted after a few hits by your little turret, which automatically fires at enemies. With the help of your companion, you can also go into close combat and leave the safe distance behind. If you hit frozen enemies or land precise hits, the shots go directly back into your magazine.

- Duality: The solar weapon can be used as both a slug shotgun and a classic shotgun. You cover both worlds but do not have the monstrous range of Chaperone.

- The Tale of a Dead Man: Especially on PC, the scout rifle is still unbelievably strong even after its nerf. Firing from the hip, you can also deal quick damage in close combat.
- Crimson: The hybrid of hand cannon and pulse rifle heals you after kills and reloads the magazine. If you can cope with the burst playstyle, you should test the little brother of the Red Death now.
- The Cloudstrike: The sniper rifle can end a round in the Trials with just one shot. Because with precise kills, a lightning strikes that knocks out all nearby enemies.
- Jötunn: The most unpopular weapon in Destiny 2 is still really nasty. The fusion rifle charges a fireball that seeks its target on its own and kills immediately.
- Wings of Watchfulness: The unusual pulse rifle fires 5 rounds at once and heals you when your allies die. The high damage ensures that you do not have to load every shot precisely and still mow everything down quickly.
Do not forget to support all exotics with appropriate mods in your armor. This way, you reload faster and aim better or withstand flinch better.
