Over the weekend, it became known that Destiny 2 has a powerful PvE weapon hidden in the Trials. Excited by this info, many PvE players eyed the guaranteed drop and ventured into the PvP endgame. However, actually obtaining the weapon turned out to be nearly an impossible task.
Which weapon was it? On Friday afternoon, it was announced in Destiny 2 that Bungie offers the powerful linear fusion rifle “Reed’s Regret” as a Godroll in the Trials. The weapon is available through reputation rank progression at the 14th Saint and is therefore a guaranteed drop.
“Reed’s Regret” is the only and is also considered the best linear fusion rifle with Stasis, from which strong damage builds can be constructed using elemental source mods.
The currently available version through reputation rank at the 14th Saint also offers Guardians a perfect and incredibly strong perk combination on top. This makes the weapon a dream for all Guardians who want to achieve high damage numbers with the least effort in PvE activities.
- “Triple Tap”: Three rapid precision hits return a round to the magazine, allowing you to hold the trigger longer.
- “Imperial Line”: Causes increased precision damage when at least two allies are nearby, which corresponds to 20% more damage.
- “Veist Stinger”: When you damage an enemy with this weapon, there is a small chance when using the aiming device that the magazine will be refilled.
Anyone who combines this combination with the Stasis elemental source “Elemental Time Dilation”, “Supreme Source Creator”, and “Source of Power” receives an insane boss killer machine.
- “Source of Power”: Grants a temporary bonus to the weapon damage of “Reed’s Regret”, which corresponds to +25% damage on weapons with the matching element for 10 seconds.
- “Elemental Time Dilation” allows you to stack this temporary effect.
- “Supreme Source Creator” ensures that activating the super generates three Stasis elemental sources in close proximity.
This weapon thus sounds more than tempting for any PvE player. Especially because it theoretically allows you to deal so much damage that the final boss in the King’s Fall raid becomes achievable even in a 3-man team.
Therefore, understandably, many Guardians wanted to try, even though they had never played Trials before and thus had no reputation points at the 14th Saint.
Impossible task that costs 29,000 reputation points and your soul

Those who started on Friday and still thought optimistically: “This is definitely doable” were quickly proven wrong.
Bungie gave PvE players one of the most rewarding carrots in the game to lure them into the Trials. However, it quickly became clear that it would cost them everything, especially nerves.
- “Reed’s Regret” is only available this weekend (October 14 – 18). This means that once the weekly reset occurs on Tuesday at 7 PM, the guaranteed Godroll can no longer be obtained. After that, it can only be obtained again through RNG luck with these perks.
- To get the weapon, you need a crazy 29,000 reputation points, which corresponds to almost 3 resets in the Trials.
- There is also no help from Bungie on the way there.
- You will only receive double reputation points in the Crucible this week. However, these do not count for Trials.
- No Freelance mode is active. So if you play solo because you don’t have a Trials team, you will mostly face well-coordinated teams that often communicate.
- In solo play, you often face 0-5 defeats, which then only grant you 50 reputation points. Only those who can win 1-2 rounds receive about 100, and about 200 reputation points for a match win.
- Finally, there is hardly any sense of honor in PvP of Destiny 2. This means you are not only facing countless matches, but also have to endure the humiliations of the opposing team. Many teams find merely a triumphant victory no longer sufficient, so teabagging and derisive gestures over your dead ghost are the order of the day.
All of this led many Guardians to give up the “Secure Godroll” mission out of frustration. The path to “Reed’s Regret” quickly proved to be a time-consuming hellish task, far removed from the fun that Guardians should actually have in a shooter.
- After about 100 Trials matches, often only a rank reset was achieved.
- The time spent on this was also high. Players reported that just for this one reset, about 20 exhausting hours in Trials were necessary.
The only advantage of the situation: While players were literally torturing themselves through the Trials, the normal valor reputation rank with Lord Shaxx leveled up almost by itself.
Are there alternatives? The linear fusion rifle “Taipan-4fr” is considered a good alternative to “Reed’s Regret”. Since it can be crafted via weapon crafting, players can construct it with identical perks in the enclave themselves. There is a quest, and the weapon blueprint only requires 2 tuned deep sight resonance weapons for construction.
The “Taipan-4fr” inflicts Void damage. Therefore, it lacks the simple damage bonus that can be obtained with “Reed’s Regret” using the Stasis elemental source mod. Thus, “Reed’s Regret” is theoretically somewhat stronger in the end, as the buff for high damage is easier to achieve with it.
What about you? Have you tried to get the weapon? Solo or in a team? Have you already succeeded, or do you think it is not worth the effort? Feel free to leave us a comment on how you perceive the effort involved.
