Currently, the Halloween event Festival of the Lost is in full swing in Destiny 2. We want to know how you are experiencing the event.
Right now, Guardians in Destiny 2 have their hands full. Besides the October Iron Banner and the activities of the third Curse Week, the Festival of the Lost is being held. But how do fans feel about the Halloween event?
What fans are saying about the Festival of the Lost in Destiny 2

Looking at fan reactions on Reddit and other discussion platforms, the Halloween event is predominantly receiving positive feedback from Guardians in its early days.
What fans like about the Festival of the Lost: Especially fans who are already familiar with the Halloween event from Destiny 1 are pleased. They emphasize that Bungie has apparently learned its lesson from the Eververse disasters. This time, the studio has organized a solid event without primarily trying to squeeze money from the Guardians.
The last Festival of the Lost was derisively referred to by fans as the “Festival of the Cost”. Many of the event-specific items were hidden behind engrams that had to be purchased with real money. This has now changed. Additionally, the event now offers more than the first time.
The following aspects are particularly well received by fans:
- Numerous cosmetic items such as ships, ghosts or sparrows
- Event-specific armor and weapons
- The entire event loot can be relatively easily earned throughout the festival – without having to spend real money
- A new mysterious questline, at the end of which fans hope for the return of the exotic machine gun Thunderlord
- The new event-specific PvE activity Shattered Forest is already considered by some fans to be better than what some paid DLCs introduced

What fans criticize about the Festival of the Lost: However, there are also quite critical voices. Some fans complain that the contents of the festival do not keep them engaged for long.
Especially the Shattered Forest is being discussed controversially in the community. While some praise it as the Greater Rifts from Diablo 3, many Guardians find it boring after just a few runs and see it as lacking innovation. Some also consider the rewards from the activity a missed opportunity. Many fans had wished for more here.
Furthermore, accusations of recycling have arisen again. While it is nice that Bungie is trying to get more out of the Infinite Forest, the Shattered Forest is essentially nothing more – just darker. The fact that another Destiny 1 exotic, the Thunderlord, might return is also met with criticism from some Guardians. They would prefer something new instead.
