Performance patch needed: A few days ago, a Guardian posted in the reddit forum: “The consoles absolutely need a performance patch.” And thousands of Guardians agreed with him.
Over 8600 users have already left their upvotes to bring this issue to Bungie’s attention.
Long wait times annoy the Guardians
What is the problem? Since the Warmind expansion, Guardians on PS4 and Xbox One have noticed that the loading times in Destiny 2 have increased. The login process alone takes an eternity, and even in the menus and user interface, players are frequently forced to wait.
Since Forsaken, the performance losses have been enormous: With the Year 2 expansion, the performance issues have worsened. The framerate now regularly drops when a lot of action occurs, and the loading times in the inventory and character overview take longer than ever before. Many users agree that the performance has now reached a low point at which Bungie must respond. And the developers have responded.

The community manager dmg04 responded in the reddit forum to this widely discussed complaint post. He is forwarding the reports of slow performance to the relevant team at Bungie. He cannot say more yet, but he wants to inform the Guardians that Bungie is aware of the problem.
Problem is being investigated: There is now an official statement on the Bungie site regarding this. They are investigating the issue where some players experience longer loading times than intended for menus and in the UI on consoles. This is what the Guardians say about it: Many players in the forums are glad that Bungie is finally officially planning to do something about the poor performance.
However, there are also complaints that the developers apparently underestimate or downplay this problem. Because it is not just “some” players who are affected, but all Guardians on PS4 and Xbox One.
Problem goes beyond the menus: Additionally, it is not just the menus that are affected, but the entire game – from logging in to framerate drops. When switching between zones in the open world, players now almost always get stuck on a loading screen. Smooth zone transitions have become a rarity.
While using an external SSD can significantly reduce loading times, as some users say, it is still up to Bungie to get Destiny 2 running smoothly again.
