Strand-Warlock – A runner with a mean needle
In this Warlock build, the class goes after enemies with a really nasty needle. The Strand fabric is manipulated in this build so that the Warlock poisons his opponents without much effort and additionally stabs them to death.
This Warlock build works with an old Exotic from Beyond Light called “Necrotic Grip”.
What makes the build special? For the Warlock, it’s all about “Corrupting” with Strand. Bound enemies trigger the Warlock aspect “Command of Thought”. This so strengthens your grenades and the Sprossweber properties. Additionally, the Warlock is at an advantage due to its Healing Rift. But also protected by “Woven Armor”, which grants him 60% damage reduction.
For the build, it’s necessary that the Warlock does not throw his grenade, but consumes it to receive “Trance of the Weaver”. This generates the meanest needle in all of Destiny 2, which poisons entire hordes of enemies and sews them to the afterlife.
- This is what “Necrotic Grip” can do: Melee attacks with “Necrotic Grip” corrupt enemies with damage over time. When a corrupted fighter is defeated, the corruption spreads to nearby targets and restores melee energy.
We have listed everything we currently use in our Warlock build. Of course, this can still be adjusted to fit your own playstyle by trying out different grenades as well as other aspects, fragments, or mods.
Our recommendation for this build:
- Super Ability: Sprossweber > Needle Storm
- Grenade: Binding Grenade – A type of bola that can bind enemies. When the grenade is consumed/squeezed, you gain the buff “Trance of the Weaver”.
- Melee: Arcane Needle
- Class Ability: Healing Rift
- Armor Exotic: “Necrotic Grip” – Exotic arm protection
| Strand | Aspects |
![]() | Call of the Weaver When you use a Rift, you create three threads on the ground near you. |
![]() | Command of Thought Enhances your grenades with additional Sprossweber-specific properties. |
For the Strand fragments for this Warlock build, we recommend:
| Strand | Fragments |
![]() | Thread of Defense: Picking up an Orb of power grants “Woven Armor” which grants you 60% damage reduction. |
![]() | Thread of Mind: Defeating bound targets grants class ability energy. |
![]() | Thread of Generation: Dealing damage generates grenade energy. |
![]() | Thread of Continuity: Binding, unraveling, and ripping effects on targets last longer. |
The build can be effectively complemented with the following weapons and values:
- Armor Values: For the Warlock, we recommend focusing on high recovery, resilience, discipline, and strength values in your armor.
- Kinetic Weapon: Anything that deals damage over time, like the exotic SMG “Osteo Striga” or the grenade launcher “Withering Collector”. With the mod “Kinetic Weapon Surge”, the weapons in this build deal additional damage, even with their ticks.
- Energy Weapon: For using the strong option “Transient Rounds”, we recommend a Void weapon in the energy slot.
- Weapon Perks: Strand weapons with the perk “Slippery”.
To round out the build, armor mods are also important. They bring you additional benefits. In this table, you’ll find all the mods we use.
How does the build play? When you’re in combat, you first consume your grenade. On PC, you need to hold your grenade button to consume the binding grenade and activate “Trance of the Weaver”. Now you can use your melee, in this case, a needle, similar to the Hunter’s throwing knife, that takes out multiple targets for you.
Thus you hardly need a weapon anymore. “Trance of the Weaver” is active for 25 seconds and does its job. Also, by getting melee kills, you receive Orbs, which provide you with armor charge, “Woven Armor”, and melee energy. You can use your ultimate for tougher enemies in between.
The last build is dedicated to the Titan. He is the berserker in Strand and holds the line for his teammates. His Strand setup unfolds extreme binding tactics alongside fists with plenty of endurance.
