In the future of Destiny 2 there is only room for one Gambit mode. Bungie presents players with a choice. Which mode do you want to keep?

There he also spoke about the future of Gambit. We take a brief look at this mode and tell you what to expect in the future.
This is Gambit in Destiny 2: Gambit represents a mix of PvP and PvE in Destiny 2. The mode was introduced with the Forsaken expansion. Here, teams of 4 Guardians fight against AI opponents in their own separate areas across up to 3 rounds. However, there are also phases where limited Guardian battles occur. The goal is to summon the Primeval, a final boss, first and defeat it. The first team to win 2 rounds wins.
Since Season 6, a new Gambit format has been added, so there are currently a total of 2 different modes of Gambit:
- the regular Gambit, as known since the launch of Forsaken
- and the new Gambit Prime, a faster-paced evolution of the original mode
Gambit Prime runs similarly to classic Gambit. However, it features only one intense round, new gameplay mechanics, as well as exclusive weapons and armor. The armor comes with special perks tailored to four different roles specifically in Gambit Prime, promoting various play styles.

This is what Bungie has planned soon: As Luke Smith, the Destiny Franchise Director, recently announced, Destiny 2 will soon present Guardians with a decision. Guardians will then choose which of the two Gambit modes they want to keep. In the future, there will only be one format. Bungie wants to hear the opinions of the Guardians on this.
Why this decision? Regarding this decision, Smith emphasizes that it is not just about cutting content from Destiny 2, but about optimizing and developing the Gambit ecosystem into one focus. Bungie thinks Gambit is good, and in their view, the mode deserves more support. However, since Destiny 2 cannot grow indefinitely, they want to focus on the “winning mode,” the Highlander of Gambit, in the future. Because there can be only one.
