The online shooter Destiny 2 still has some story debts to settle from Destiny 1. What about the Queen of the Awoken, Mara Sov? Is she dead or not? And what about the Stranger? It doesn’t look like Destiny 2 will provide answers here.
Destiny 2: Does Mara Sov play a role?
For two years, players have been speculating in Destiny: Is she dead or not? We’re talking about Mara Sov, the Queen of the Awoken. She played a central role in the early months of Destiny, especially in the story of the main game and in the DLC “House of Wolves.”
Then she had her big appearance in the “Taken King” expansion and died in an explosion… or did she?
Many signs pointed to Mara Sov still being alive and potentially playing an important role in Destiny.
But it doesn’t seem like she will appear at the beginning of Destiny 2.
In an interview with PC Gamer, game director Luke Smith is asked about the secrets from the first game and whether they will be resolved in Destiny 2. What about Mara Sov?
Regarding Mara Sov, Luke Smith says: It’s known that there is a lot of interest in the Queen of the Awoken and in the Reef. Even though Destiny 2 does not specifically want to deal with these mysteries, they see the fans who cosplay and love the characters. There are more stories to tell here.

Destiny 2: What about the Stranger?
Things look even worse for the “Stranger”. Players meet the Exo Stranger at the beginning of their journey in Destiny. They receive a weapon from her, and then she says, “I don’t even have time to explain why I don’t have time to explain” and disappears. Since then, players have been waiting in vain to see her again.
Luke Smith says about the Stranger: This is a storyline that has been closed. She appeared, gave the player a nice gun, and then disappeared to do something else. She had her entrance and her exit. But the character must have something because fans keep asking about her.

Cayde-6 instead of Mara Sov
Mein MMO says: This happens when a new author takes over from the old one. Mara Sov and the Stranger seem to still be remnants of the original Destiny story and are not figures of Luke Smith. He is more into Zavala, Cayde-6, Eris Morn, and Ghaul.
Mara Sov seems to be a remnant from the original Destiny story. Sources say that this story was rejected by the “bosses”. They rewrote it just before release: the characters that were already there were then used differently.

Hopefully, Luke Smith brings the story of Mara Sov to a worthy conclusion. The character is actually too important to let her step completely into the background. Maybe Mara will indeed make a comeback in Destiny 2.
What do you think? Do you want to know what happened to Mara Sov, or do you see her story as complete?
